| Ciara Mageean RIP on 15:35 - Nov 2 with 1154 views | MrSheen | I didn’t know much about her, but it’s an incredibly sad story. Reminiscent of Lillian Board, who died in 1970, barely two years after winning an Olympic silver and a year after a European gold. She was only 22. I’m not sure what it means that deadly illness can creep up on athletes in their prime so swiftly, except perhaps they accept daily discomfort as part of the price of their success. | Ciara Mageean RIP on 16:07 - Nov 2 with 1092 views | Hoopstar | Really sad news. I follow quite a few athletes on social media as a leftover from my brief running journey, and they are all absolutely heartbroken which shows what a wonderful person she was. A horrid thing to lose someone so talented so young. | | | |

| Ciara Mageean RIP on 22:25 - Nov 2 by numptydumpty | Scottish man I knew 15 years ago for a time, he grew up where Jocky Wilson was and was a mate of his. The bloke I knew probably trained like Jocky on a bottle of Scotch for breakfast. Sad though an athlete can die so young. We going to have another one soon in Chris Hoy. One of our all time Olympians early 50s. Makes you wonder sometimes what exactly is the route to a long and happy life. Probably don't support Queens Park Rangers !! [Post edited 2 Nov 22:26]

The route is 80% luck, 20% lifestyle. | |

| Ciara Mageean RIP on 23:06 - Nov 2 with 534 views | Noelmc | A wonderful athlete gone far too soon. It was nice she was able to get married to her long-term partner three weeks before her death, in what appeared a very happy ceremony. RIP Ciara. | | | |
| Ciara Mageean RIP on 23:24 - Nov 2 with 499 views | CLAREMAN1995 | Yeah my bad Myke I put my thoughts into the celebrites thread after I heard she passed on. | Ciara Mageean RIP on 08:38 - Nov 3 with 229 views | Phildo | Very very sad indeed. I came through stage 2 bowel cancer a couple of years ago but she was unfortunately stage 4 as it is a silent one. It is affecting a lot of young people for reasons not entirely clear - not like Ciara was unhealthy. If you do notice something unusual even one time in the loo go and get it checked - they will probably do an iron blood test first and caught early it is very treatable. | | | |
