Felt very reminiscent of Southampton at home last season.

Relegated side come to Loftus Rd in relegation zone low on confidence having sacked their manager. That game we lost, this one looked to be going the same way but we managed to get a point despite not playing very well after a bright first 20.

They grew in confidence from the goal and remembered they were a decent set of players after the goal.

Not saying they’ll go on to make the playoffs like Saints did but ultimately it’s one of those when you come up against a side with a new manager and - usual caveat - we have so many injuries. Feel we’d have surrendered in years gone by and started another doom spiral.

If we beat Lincoln it’ll be 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats from a tough spell of fixtures in this chunk between internationals which would be a decent return.

Poll: And it's hi ho

The lack of flexibility in our approach frustrated me tonight. The no look instant flicks round the corner are a great way to open up a team trying to swarm the man receiving the ball, but with Burnley largely standing off waiting for someone else to do some running meant the balls into space generally went straight to a surprised defender. Yet we persisted with the tactic even though we changed some of the personnel in the second half.

Burnley left huge amounts of space on their left, but a combination of Adamson’s timidity about getting too far forward and Vale’s sluggishness meant we didn’t trouble them there at all. At least Cirkin was more adventurous. It was crying out for Smyth to go wide right for a few minutes and try to take them on, but it didn’t happen.

Can you clarify…… did you think Chair changed the game in a positive or negative way?

I’ve been in The Chair Supporters Club for the whole of his career here but that was an awful 35 minutes from him.
His passing was as atrocious as his team mates around him.
Looked proper leggy, you could see his brain always wanting to do that cut inside and unleash the shot but body uncoordinated and half a yard off it.
First touch worryingly poor.

Hopefully he can play his way back into form as its got to be him above Harvey Fail everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday

Been out for 3 months, what exactly did you expect coming on as a sub in the 60th minute?

All players take time to find fitness and form when they’ve been out for an extended period.

At least he had an assist, which was more than Smyth and Saito produced all night.
