This is the worst period for music in my lifetime IMO.
The "commercial" music; the stuff you hear in the charts, I've never heard anything as bad as that in my lifetime.
Any great new bands coming through ? Not that I'm aware of.
Dance music died a very miserable death as well.
There is still stuff around. Just not the the commercial shit you hear in the charts and Nightclubs which is crap. Loads of decent underground house still around...

Fair enough, if you enjoy the stuff they are putting out now that's the most important thing.
Compared to what it used to be like I think Dance Music died a proper death.
That stuff in the charts is an abomination, none of it would have seen the light of day 15 years ago, shockingly bad.

I wish you all the best with your promotion, but I intend to start 2013 waking up in my bed, not stuck out in Wembley somewhere, the prospect of a horrific journey home infront of me, did all that in my teens / twenties, simply not up to going out all night thesedays, the very thought horrifies me.

But that in itself is quite sad, What was so special about that time was that new fresh music was popping up every 6 months, it was a fantastically creative time with a great vibe going out. For the guy that asked the peak was 1993 and then the criminal justice bill killed off a lot of the spontaneity and the whole thing moved into the clubs, in the mid nineties you had the rise of the super clubs and Ibizia and the whole thing started to die in the late nineties as Es got crap Coke took over in the clubs and the whole thing became very commercialised.
Ok here comes controversial theory (apologies for those that wil be offended by it)
Re todays music, the kids and twenty somethings of the rave generation were the kids of the 60's revolution parents whose record collection included the beatles, stones, hendrix, floyd etc todays kids and twenty somethings are the children of 80's parents their record collections contain dire straits, stock aitkin waterman and U2 no wonder they dont produce much of any originality. We can only hope that the kids of the Rave generation fare better, but of course we dont have record collections that much anymore for them to thumb through
This is a festival i played at in the summer in Portugal. I must stress that i am not a hippie or a traveller and i don't play music over 130bpm. it got raided whilst I was playing .....that was a bit odd, carried on and turned it up.

As for adding my own fav Rave track, too many to mention but this came on my MP3 player the other day and I just sat back and said "Cor they don't make them like this no more"

That looks a QUALITY line up Where is it and is it ticket only? Probably not a good idea to head the half cut after Wigan away but you never know
By mad coincidence I'd just finished watching Idris Elbas How Clubbing Changed the World and that got me all misty eyed. I think come on here and there's a few trax that stir some emotions Loved the track Kicks Like A Mule and still remember hearing it the 1st time as I walked thru Camden Market. However I'd go back to page one of this thread - Bizzare Inc Playing With Knives end of! Remember it being dropped on its debut outing at Camden Palace. Ripped the place up and they must've played it five times that night
