Understand Dickenson been released by Southend on economic grounds as they have chosen not to take up year two on his contract as I guess they still harbour hopes of signing Freddie Eastwood. Saw Dickenson a couple of times on TV and he seemded a decent player around the box although he does seem to have had a lot of clubs. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Have just listened to the Radio Essex interview with Marcus Bean, sounds like a level headed guy and was popular at Brentford, useful addition to the squad.
We still need a striker though!!
