Week 20 results BRISTOL CITY 2 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 3 After ending a spell of 17 league matches without a win at home against Barnsley in October, City were chasing their fifth consecutive victory at Ashton Gate. But it was Huddersfield who secured their first away victory since September. Nobody got this spot-on, but 6 did have the outcome. 11 predicted this to end 1-1, in what was easily the weeks most predicted score. MILLWALL v PRESTON NORTH END POSTPONED Due to Millwall players testing positive for Covid AFC WIMBLEDON v PORTSMOUTH POSTPONED Due to Portsmouth players testing positive for Covid GILLINGHAM v CREWE ALEXANDRA POSTPONED Due to Gillingham players testing positive for Covid PORT VALE v EXETER CITY POSTPONED Due to Port Vale players testing positive for Covid ROCHDALE 3 NEWPORT COUNTY 0 Rochdale continued their good form over Newport and have now beaten them in five successive home league games. Well done to Pinault_Noir for being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 6 got the outcome. We were told there was a tidal wave of the Omicron variant infections on the way, but I don't think anybody expected football to be affected in such a big way so soon. With payers being ordered to take a daily test, there was always going to be more positive cases revealed, but the number is still shockingly high. I don't know what checks are done to confirm if all these postive cases are true, because being the cynical person I am, are clubs "doing a Sutton" and using a few positive Covid cases to get games called off because they have got a lot of injuries and suspensions. The Major of London has declared a "major incident" due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant in the capital, and with Christmas and New Year parties still to come, the future is looking bleak for football. The EFL chairman Rick Parry said there are no plans to have a circut breaker, because of the rise in cases, but there's talk of the government having a two-week lockdown after Christmas so maybe that will be taken out of our hands. As for the Happy League, I feel we heading for a season similar to the one in 2019/20, and there will be weeks with no football. If this happens lost fixtures will be made up, and I hope to still have a season with 280 games. This week we lost four games, and the two that were played almost produced unpredictable results. I say almost, because considering their relative league positions, Pinault_Noir pulled off one of the best predictions in this season, or any other, when he had the Rochdale 3-0 spot-on. He also had the Hudddersfield outcome, to make him the weeks top scorer with a very good 4 points. A special mention for unitedwhites and oxfcolu in being the only ones to have both outcomes. Happy Midweek League Cup With Christmas coming, and far more important things to think about, a reminder that the next round of games are due to take place on Wednesday 29th December. Happy Cup The Quarter-final draw and fixtures, can now be found on the separate Happy Cup thread. If you are reading this blueeagle, I have sent you a PM regarding one of the Happy Cup fixtures. Champions League With only two games played this week, and not many points accrued, it is still Daniel who is in that final qualification place with his 76 points. In the Premier With only 5 points achieved overall in this division, it is not surprising to find there is little change. In fact the only change has unitedwhites moving up two places into the final Super Cup place, and mfb_cufc going two places the other way. In Division One The consistency this season from Pinault_Noir finally got its reward, and his top scoring performance took him up three places to the summit. The only other change in this league has oxfcolu moving up a place, after getting both outcomes. THE TABLES (140 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 21 Fixtures This is now a 10 game week to make up for the postponed matches in Week 20. The Week 22 update will be sometime on Monday.
