Week 9 results BARNSLEY 3 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 1 A comfortable win for Barnsley, in a game where both teams scored with their only shots on target.. Nobody got this spot-on, but 21 did have the outcome, with an incredible 15 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score. MORECAMBE 1 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 2 Cambridge came from behind to win with a Harvey Knibbs goal in the 87th minute. A sublime 5 had this spot-on, and a further 7 had the outcome. PETERBOROUGH UNITED 3 PORT VALE 0 Peterborough snapped a run of four successive League One defeats by breezing past Port Vale. Nobody got this spot-on, though 18 did have the outcome. BARROW 0 LEYTON ORIENT 2 In the clash of League Two's top two, it is Orient who come out on top, to extend their unbeaten start to the season, and end Barrow's 100% home record. 4 had this spot-on, and a further 7 got the outcome. BRADFORD CITY 2 AFC WIMBLEDON 2 Vadaine Oliver rescued a point for Bradford with a 95th minute equaliser, as Wimbledon ended a four-game losing run. Another game with no 3 pointer, and only oxfcolu had the outcome. The other 25 predicted a win for Bradford. GRIMSBY TOWN 1 SWINDON TOWN 2 Ten-man Swindon extended their unbeaten run to nine League Two matches with a hard-fought win. Only 2 had this spot-on, and 3 more got the outcome. HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 GILLINGHAM 0 With Hartlepool taking their winless run to 19 games, and Gillingham failing to have a shot on target away from home again, it had all the ingredients for a bore draw, so well done to the 5 who got this spot-on, and 2 more had the outcome. NEWPORT COUNTY 1 CARLISLE UNITED 1 Corey Whelan marked his 50th game for Carlisle with the defender's first goal to earn a hard-fought draw, a result that at least ended Newport's run of four successive defeats. A sublime 5 had this spot-on, and nobody got the outcome. For the second week running there was only two home wins, and with neither providing a 3 pointer, it could have been a tough week, but only one other game failed to have spot-on, and we ended with a decent enough 21 spot-ons. That included the 2-1 wins for Cambridge and Swindon breaking the duck for that score this season. No doubt about the top performer this week, with sevebalo being the only member to get three 3 pointers, the wins for Orient and Swindon, and the Newport 1-1. He also had two outcomes to give him a brilliant 11 points. There were three members who did well to have two 3 pointers, the best of which was Daniel, who had the draws at Hartlepool and Newport, and four outcomes, to give him an excellent 10 points. Also getting those two draws was Tropical_Us, on his way to a decent 7 points. The trio was completed by blueeagle, who had the wins for Cambridge and Orient, and two outcomes to give him a decent 8 points. A very special mention for oxfcolu. He came out best of those who had one 3 pointer, the Hartlepool 0-0, and an impressive six outcomes, that gave him a superb 9 points. Only the Newport result stopped him from having a full house. One thing I have noticed about this season so far is the increased number of bore draws being predicted, and five members got their reward for going that way this week. In fact the 0-0 at Hartlepool was the 7th one this season, and that is inow equal with the 1-0 as the top result this season. It is a result that has been overlooked in the past, probably because a goal being scored means no chance of a 3 pointer. But in the last six seasons there have been more 0-0's than the more popular 2-0 or 0-2. Could be something to bear-in-mind for the future. Midweek League Cup A reminder that the next round of games are ready for predicting, with the deadline Tuesday 4th October 19.45. In the Premier Having the Cambridge 2-1 spot-on helped mfb_cufc to remain top for the third week running. The excellent week for Daniel moved him up four places into second. Four outcomes for noah4x4 were enough for him to remain third. Three outcomes for ghughes11, and he occupies the final Super Cup spot this week. Three outcomes also for thrillseeker, and he drops out of the top four for the first time this season, but only on the most 3 pointer rule. The biggest rise in this division came from blueeagle, whose decent week moved him up five places, into the top half for the first time this season. For the past five weeks the first to post rule has decided whether RSCOSWORTH has either been in the bottom three or just avoided it. This weeek it is the latter, and it is concordman who loses out, and drops into the relegation zone for the second time this season. A promising five outcomes for Sector4 gives him hope of getting out of it. In Division One The brilliant week for sevebalo has seen him storm to the top, for the first time this season. Despite getting another bore draw spot-on, GOSBTS has to settle for the other automatic spot, to take his run of being in the top two to seven weeks. The superb week for oxfcolu moves him up a place to a season high third. It is a season high fourth as well for burnsieespana, as he also moves up a place. Two outcomes for Pinault_Noir, means he drops to fifth. Having the Newport 1-1 spot-on helps to keep bwildered in the final play-off place. Three outcomes for MrHappy2, means he just misses out on the top six for the third week running. Up a place to a season high eighth is Madeira163, after he got the Orient 2-0 spot-on. Also benefiting from having that Orient win spot-on was Lewis_1, and he moved up three places. The biggest rise in this league came from Tropical_Us, who moved off the bottom and up four places. THE TABLES (56 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 10 Fixtures 10 games picked by this weeks guest blueeagle, who has another go after his picks for Week 7 were not played.
