Got caught out with the five in midfield having the spare man wide which led to all three conceded goals.
Had two handballs turned down, one with a get out of jail card right on the half time whistle.
Never got any control of the second half and missed Payne’s busyness in midfield.
Shot wrong footed Macey .
Once again loanees Araujo and Mbick look a class above this level.
Need to get back on track with three home points next weekend . |

Fernandes, 25, has been rewarded with a two-year senior deal following a prominent season with the Essex first team, moving up from his rookie contract.
Excellent news for him, question will be how often he will be available now for ColEE ?
Possibly will be playing all second XI games now, is it not to late to become an opener has places might become available once Elgar contract finishes end of next season. |

Ipswich - John Deere tractor .
Nodge - Lotus Esprit, decent 20years previous local connection but heading for deeper water (007) .

Never really had much of a opinion on Holloway either way, but do recall the moment when his visiting Grimsby side had lost one nil at the Job Serve ( think Harriett waltz through to score ) against a very near the basement U’s, so a disappointing result, but what did impress was that he took time to wandered around clapping the attendees, has this was Covid time with a distanced crowd . |

Pub team ? Aveley play in Isthiam Premier League, one step up at present from Maldon & Tiptree.
Yes the Essex Senior Cup is not high on the U’s priorities, and the team is usually made up of fringe, recovering and U21 players getting a game, so a settled side is almost nonexistent.
Every junior these days are told to follow the dreams, being a footballer is no different from previous decades and professions . Those who do not make the grade have more opportunity now than before in interim jobs at clubs than ever before. Many these days leave the game completely after failing to get full time contracts after being in the academy system, but clubs have encouraged them in a education and not to rely just on pitch careers.
Remember PL stating the youths were only good enough to clean his Maserati, (except one), and many decades ago a mate of mine went to day release at Chelmsford institute with U’s apprentices . [Post edited 23 Oct 9:05]

Wandering the last time back to back home games produced two home hat tricks . Think Jevani Brown scored two in a row but one was in the League and the other was in the Tin Pot cup ( whoever was the sponsor at the time ).
