If Junior goes, and we may never know what fee we get for him, will he be the third most expensive Col U player ever behind Lua Lua and Halford?

To me that is a weird signing considering we have just taken a GK on loan from Crystal Palace and already have Sam Hornby & Ted Collins

TS - a great signing Tom Smith was outstanding towards the end of the season.

Gives us options. Smith will rightly be number one.

I agree completely, not a signing I was expecting either. I wonder if Smith had something else lined up and that has fallen through and the opportunity to sign a decent, young goalkeeper on a permanent deal was too good of an opportunity for us to miss. If Goodman is indeed staying for the season then I can't see Hornby getting near the first team squad unless there's an injury or suspension.

I am sure I saw Tom Smith had turned out for somebody like Crawley last week.
Considerable risk have two young GK's as first choice but guess they play the ay Garner wants from a keeper whereas Hornby and Collins don't.
Seems a waste of a salary to have 4 GK's.

Good signing, particularly as we got him on a free. We know what he's about, the majority of the team knows what he's about, and he fits well with Ben's style of play. With Smith and Goodman we have two goalkeepers who can interchange without disrupting the style, but what does that mean for Collins and/or Hornby?

We now have four keepers and no goalkeeping coach, unless they are going elsewhere for specialist coaching .
Suggests that Collins will get a loan out, or perhaps him or Hornby have not sufficiently recovered from ops which they had end of last season .

Seem to think we have a goal keeping coach coming but he has to work a notice period from club he is coming from.

Excellent news, and with an additional year option too!

edit: Btw, Stoke messageboard says Junior is a done deal, fee agreed, just apparently sorting out the fine print on a clause.

I read it as until 2025 with an additional year, basically making it until 2026 unless something drastically goes wrong!

Gateshead have re-signed midfielder Luke Hannant on a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old, who was a free agent after being released by Colchester earlier this summer, previously played for the Heed between 2016 and 2018.

Colchester are closing in on two new signings which is very good news.

My new home and away shirts also arrived today and are very stylish.

Just waiting on the two new players.

Yeah - that was what I meant, just hadn't read your post well enough - 2025 with an option to extend to 2026.

Still living in Ipswich apparently. If he signs with them the money must be good or he really enjoys sitting in heavy traffic for several hours twice a day commuting between two sh1t holes.

LB if so might we secure his services again. Worth a try after all commuting would be a doddle.

However Gillingham would probably be able to offer bigger wages.

Macca Bonne could be one of the two potential signings
