I agree completely, not a signing I was expecting either. I wonder if Smith had something else lined up and that has fallen through and the opportunity to sign a decent, young goalkeeper on a permanent deal was too good of an opportunity for us to miss. If Goodman is indeed staying for the season then I can't see Hornby getting near the first team squad unless there's an injury or suspension. | |

I am sure I saw Tom Smith had turned out for somebody like Crawley last week.
Considerable risk have two young GK's as first choice but guess they play the ay Garner wants from a keeper whereas Hornby and Collins don't.

Good signing, particularly as we got him on a free. We know what he's about, the majority of the team knows what he's about, and he fits well with Ben's style of play. With Smith and Goodman we have two goalkeepers who can interchange without disrupting the style, but what does that mean for Collins and/or Hornby? |  |
