Welsh Tourism 10:58 - Jul 17 with 48977 views | Dr_Winston | https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jul/16/huge-market-untapped-lack-of-vis Already on its knees in recent years thanks to the Welsh Govts unnecessarily heavy Covid restrictions, refusal to deal with M4 congestion and seeming intention to actually make getting around in Wales even harder. To top that off we've still got the mooted tourist tax to come. Is there anything in this country that they can't screw up?

Welsh Tourism on 18:59 - Jul 21 by Gwyn737 | I’ve no issue with a tourist tax per se, if the money is used wisely. I see it a bit like the Severn bridge, o toll to pay for itself. Did tourist numbers explode when the toll booths went? |
In fairness the number of people who moved over the bridge to live did. You can see the difference in the morning commute east in the mornings.

I hadn’t realised that. At least we got a bridge out of it whatever!

Welsh Tourism on 18:42 - Jul 21 by johnlangy | If she genuinely did say that I would have expected that every single Welsh person on this forum would be livid. 'England will not tolerate anymore interference from the rest of the UK'. Which is effectively saying that England are our Lords and masters. Is Wales not part of the UK ? Are we not allowed to have opinions ? I can't believe there are a few posts that just appear to have accepted this as okay. |
I'm absolutely tamping , happy now . You want a devolved government then have a hissy fit when the english decide they don't want interference from the Welsh

I still have respect the voters who keep voting for Drakeford and Labour in the Senedd despite their disastrous performance for the last 20 years. It is their choice.

Wales gets £120 per person for every £100 spent in England under the Barnett formula Can you actually provide any evidence that this is untrue?

Welsh Tourism on 20:40 - Jul 20 by Kilkennyjack | You have set up your own straw man and then attacked it. Not sure why ? I have no idea how much it will raise. Whatever it is should be reinvested in Wales so the future tourists will be well catered for. Are you against investing in our tourist industry ? |
I ll say this for you Killy. You manage to state your case without the snide sheete that befalls some on here . It’s possible to disagree and keep it tidy.

They don't like us do they…? The Little Englanders hate the thought of equality with Scotland or Wales. Know your place. Of course this is the laguage of domestic abuse. Its unhealthy, xenophobic and entirely counter productive. Now then …. Any luck stopping the small boats yet with our outstanding Clandestine Channel Commander ? Or maybe possibly, she'd have a point. An indy Wales outside both the UK and the EU with no subsidy from the rest of the UK and no support from the EU could face financial problems. It's not something you'd entertain though is it.

The toll was to pay for building it though. The fact is that removing the toll has seen traffic increase into Wales which is surely better for our economy...until they get to Brynglas anyway. If the tourist tax proved to reduce traffic into Wales, proved to be detrimental to our economy (which I think it will) then you'd think a sensible person would remove it but we'll have to wait and see. Then hope the long term peformance is reported to us honestly because in my opinion, the Senedd lies to us just like Westminster lies to us.
