Love it Clive. Should have won easily but ( a big but) winning like this is so much more emotional. The team coming out from the changing room for a second round the pitch was sheer class. The fact that LR was still almost full was inspiring. I was there, I was there

Superb.

The quality of Jimmy Dunne's winner only matched by the quality of your three paragraph description of it! Thank you.

One of those 'I was there' moments that will stay in the memory forever.

Thinking of Type B relegations after watching the longer Sky highlights, Jimmy was close to being the villain rather than the hero. I hadn’t noticed at the time that he had taken out Paik for the free kick before the goal.

If Thomas Frank had read it in time, he’d have had a couple of minutes thinking about them too after Mount’s (Mount’s!) goal.

Thanks Clive - to think if we can win Monday we'll be nearly there.
I didn't think it was possible for anyone to turn this around.

"off the scale brilliance that was a goal from the moment he hit it"

A goal from the moment he hit it indeed. Watch Sam Field when Dunne hits it. A fraction of a second after it leaves his foot, before it's even halfway to the goal, his arms are up in the air celebrating. Sometimes you just know...

Tremendous stuff. There's been many times I've been glad I wasn't there but damn I'd loved to have been there for this.

In a way, the clips filmed from the Birmingham end are better as you get to see the whole ground erupt, even the normally sedate areas.

Our Moroccan sombrero friend was having a great time winding up the away end 😄.

Great write up

Chuckled at "the better than sex" moment with Jimmy's goal !!!

Maybe not when you are 26, but as a 56 year old, a last minute 25 yard volley by a "give it everything" limited defender to win a crucial relegation scrap, well yes your comment could be seen as having some validation !!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Another masterpiece Clive - Really enjoyed that apart from being reminded about the Eric Cantona goal scored at 5.03pm. Still gives me nightmares that one.

I won’t lie I was one of those that could not stay in my seat when Birmingham were awarded that late free kick. I run down to the SAR concourse with a few other hardy souls and watched on the TV. God knows why maybe we all thought that would help and God would be kind to us as we were not in our seat to suffer the upcoming torment. Instead we all breathed a huge sigh of relief and I rushed back to my seat. I was walking down the G block stairs when Jimmy brought his left foot back and I think you have referred to these as stairs moments in the past and that is exactly what it was for me. Down the stairs I ran and for one moment I was up on the rail at the front about to jump on top of the roof of the executive boxes. Fortunately I managed to resist as the people in the box below nearly had a seventeen stone ball of blubbering flesh fall on top of them………

A wonderful moment in life………

I cba to make an individual thread so here will do - what was up with Chair?

His reaction to Dunne's goal is super strange. Hands on his head, as it goes in he still seems kinda mad he didn't pass it to him. Takes ages to join the team celebrations.

At full time he was on the floor for ages, then was greeting all his team mates like he was on the verge of tears till Marti came over and geniunely slapped him (playfully!) across the head.

Never know what's going on with people, but it struck me as very very odd

Delirium brought on by exhaustion and fasting perhaps. He did seem emotionally overwhelmed. Who knows, perhaps he asked God for a miracle and he’s having to cope with implications of having a prayer answered immediately!

Talking of "I was there" moments, I feel extremely privileged to be a member of that happy band who have seen in the flesh both Tricky's bicycle kick, Zamoooooorrrrrrrraaaaahhhhh's goal and now this, the Jimmy Dunne Easter miracle.

You capture the moment perfectly, Clive. When Zamora's goal went in at Wembley, I swear I levitated. On Friday, I almost sank to my knees with joy and relief. Incredible moments that do seem to make up for all the absolute shit we've had to endure over the years.

And one other thing: your report has reminded me of that utterly bizarre moment when the ref took the ball from their half in which we were attacking and moved it all the way back practically to our penalty box. Will we ever know WTF that was all about? When the Peaky Blinders went on to score just after that, I almost - almost - capitulated, almost walked out, almost couldn't take the inevitable. But as always, you stay on, don't you, because, well, because something extraordinary just might happen.

What a perfect weekend for a resurrection. Bring on the Swans!

My takeaway was the lack of composure shown. Whether the situation at the bottom got to them or just general lack of quality. Both sides almost equally guilty.
Chair and, later, Anderson high wide and not very handsome.
Roberts slicing a presentable chance for a throw
Stansfield rounding Begovic, pushing it too wide and failing to see 2 Brum teammates queueing up at the far post
Willock volley closer to upper tier than the goal
Sanderson in wrestling match with Armstrong
Colback not being given a FK and a mindless response 30 seconds later.
The only composed part was Bacuna's finish.
Then Rowett took him off. Panic?

But, as Clive said, the moments were on our side.

Excellent stuff Clive as always

I was wondering how tall Jimmy Dunne actually is? He's listed as 6 foot everywhere but he seems to tower over everyone but Begovic, who's listed as 6 foot 6. They were walking off after the game the other day and Jimmy only seems to be an inch or so shorter. He must be 6 foot 4 I would imagine.

I seriously like the way that Marti seems to have found a real player in him and I particularly like the way he gets forward. He has very good game awareness in that final third. Could he end up being our Declan Rice? Given that Marti seems to have found a real footballer in him and his physical presence going forward it could be an option. If we stay up and we keep hold of Jimmy and Reggie we could have that option next season... if we stay up of course.

Never knowingly right.

Bacuna was crocked I think, hobbled off very slowly.

Add the ref to the list. Apart from the horizontal drop-ball, the highlights showed a very bad foul by Laird on Chair got the first goal free kick. Second yellow, surely?

Him and Sanderson both got away with fouls that should have been yellows around that time IMO.

I think mainly he was in absolute shock - he's just got his hands on his head, like 'how did that happen?' Also, as others have said, he's fasting for Ramadan, so to put the shift in he did (and, as usual, still running his legs off deep into injury time, and keepong the ball superbly in the corner with Andersen) was probably absolutely exhausting. Him and Dunne had big hugs then and after the game, I wouldn't read much into it. Plus, obviously, he must be under massive strain considering what's hanging over him.

Bare bones.

Also, I'm prepared to be proven wrong, but Chair's half-volley either took a wicked bobble or span wickedly just before he hit it - he immediately looked despairingly at the ground. But maybe he just tried to hit it too hard.

Bare bones.

cheers Clive; despite being there to see it I was looking forward to revisiting it through your eyes & words...

captured it brilliantly

Since taking the RB berth at Bristol, Dunne has been remarkably assured and the best I can say is that he looks like he's been at RB for a long time; not a month.

Was a vision of disbelief from Ilias and am sure football is his salvation at the moment, considering he has the very real prospect of doing time in a Belgian prison.

But I doubt his reaction was because he could not believe like most of us, what we just saw.

A moment on a par with Trevor Sinclairs long range over head kick ie total disbelief !!

Also if you, yourself, were facing a year away from reality, during your work, it would occasionally come into your thoughts - perhaps !!

Superb write up Northern, hopefully proves to be the Sliding Doors moment we all crave for this season,

I think / hope our luck might be changing as always remarked when with us how Sanderson could'nt head a ball properly, frequently does'nt head the ball with his forehead but rather the top of his head and hence gets no distance with his header,

Armstrong put him under pressure but that flaw was evident again and was a very poor header; hopefully another sign of our luck turning, where returning players gift us goals rather than put them in the back of our net.

In golf terms Sanderson is all the gear and no idea. All the physical attributes to be a Premier League centre back, so thick it’s a miracle he can work his front door to leave the house each day.
