Sometimes you read an article which is so completely and utterly ridiculous you cannot believe that it is real. You have to reach for a calendar and check it’s not the 1st of April. This was my feeling as I sat mouth agape reading about the Danish government and the next mental and futile plan to become climate zero.
They are taxing farts.
Yes you read that correctly.
Farts.
Every cow, sheep and pig will be taxed €100 per metric tonne of fart every year. The average cow apparently farts 6 metric tonnes of fart every year.
So that’s €600 per cow per year.
Just for farting.
No doubt it won’t be long before the Senedd follows suit and drives a further stake through the heart of struggling Welsh farmers and consumers driving food prices through the roof again.
I live in a big farming area, believe me, they are not struggling.

That may be, but the extra cost will no doubt be passed onto the consumer many of whom are struggling. A deeply regressive tax that will disproportionately affect those on lower incomes as food prices are already at an a time high.

wealthy mid Wales , just how do you do it ?
I am not a farmer so wouldn't know. But hard work and a huge amount of handouts helps them.

But you know all their financial details ?, I agree hard work should be rewarded and not penalised but it is especially in Wales . A new report from WWF has estimated that almost 3 million tonnes of edible food – valued at £1.8 billion and equivalent to 6.9 billion meals, or over 18 million meals a day – goes to waste on UK farms each year , its grown but because of legislation and directives by Government on how much can be sold then the remainder is ploughed back into the land .

Wales has over 10 million sheep. If we take a round figure of a hundred quid per tonne of farty goodness then the Senedd could raise several billions to pump into pointless Cardiff vanity projects.
