Completely disagree - EEL slows the game down so much and all the players around him seem brainwashed - like they have been told they must pass the ball to him - even when he is behind them. It's no coincidence that since he went off and Kingdon came on the tempo has increased and hey presto we score 2 goals. I hope EEL does't play on saturday

Agree - with the possession style tempo is key. EEL needs more time on the ball, and if the opposition press on, it’s a real weakness. No doubt McNulty will say he needed to make changes to keep it fresh. Still other results went for us, still seventh with two games in hand, need to show some character on Sat and win at Maidenhead.

But it was the impact elsewhere of his selection that caused the main issues to our play. Hogan never pushed on because he can’t, not his fault. When he went off we then quickly made two more subs and changed the formation completely with only two at the back.

Refwatch - Rochdale v Boston United on 21:47 - Mar 18 with 2282 views | Edindale | Late fightback but not enough to save a point and on the balance of play a fair result. Can't concede three at home and expect to win. We over elaborate in attack and both Hendo and Bird goals proved that we should be shooting more often. Don't think we looked like scoring from any of our 16 corners. Still no harm done with Halifax and Alty both losing. Need to restore confidence at Maidenhead on Saturday.

Refwatch - Rochdale v Boston United on 21:52 - Mar 18 with 2192 views | Dalenet | Credit to Boston. They have been on form and none of us expected this to be an easy game. Not bad for part time footballers who have had the carrot of full time next season dangled in front of them. It helps that they now have a very experienced League Two manager in charge - he had certainly worked out to nullify us. Although McNulty gave him a head start with his selections.

agree Hogan doesn't suit a wide CB role but against an inform Boston we needed to settle into our pattern early and take the sting out of the game whereas EEL's continual use of a long ball gave away possession, handed them the impetus and disrupted our midfield shape; plus his lack of pace is a liability.

Refwatch - Rochdale v Boston United on 22:13 - Mar 18 with 1973 views | dingdangblue | I dont care if he is club captain - he's not started a match in 7 months and was no way ready to start tonight against one of the divisions in form sides. We've let in 4 goals now with him on the pitch in the last 2 games and its cost us potentially 5 points - and we've let a better defender in Ferguson leave the club.

He doesn’t look match fit and with no outlet alongside him to the right it was all so disjointed. That said it was his ball into Bird (I think) that led to the Henderson chance which he should have scored. That and the Barlow miss were sitters and it could have been different if we’d got one back then. The one big plus point though was how we finally changed formation at home when chasing a game and we all could see the chaos that ensued, with positive outcomes in the goals. The only other time this season I can recall us going to two CH and chucking more players on up front was Tamworth away, which again led to a late goal.

Really hope we don’t live to regret that Ferguson move. There’s always been a decent player in there.

Spot on. Not only did McNulty weaken the team by playing EEL and giving him the captains armband, he also impacted Hogans game by playing him out of position to accomodate EEL. The best defence in the league conceded three goals at home tonight and the defence was a shambles. McNulty then expected EEL to pull the strings and act as the puppeteer..he had East and Gilmour in front but preferred EEL to be he creater. It was the EEL show tonight and it was like going back to the bad old days again, it's a shambles everytime EEL plays and there's always a cock up just around the corner. He couldn't leave it alone McNulty, irrespective of how well our defence has performed he was always going to shoehorn EEL back into the team. He's not good enough to catch this team and should be on the bench, its not his fault the manager selects him though.

Refwatch - Rochdale v Boston United on 22:39 - Mar 18 with 1702 views | Daley_Lama | Well played Boston, fully deserved. It’s been a while since a Rochdale classic (Barnet away?) but we came up with a belter and Gilmour’s hung head said it all. These are in our DNA. The second came from another slight bug-bear, we cleared the cross but because we always have 11 men in the box, nobody is ever there to compete for the cleared ball. Their defenders stay in and another evident weakness (Wealdstone at home) saw the ball pumped to the back post and unguarded player scored. This also happened from a set piece second half, cleared, pumped to the back post and Boston had 2 free players. Third was through debutant doing a no-look back heel and Boston breaking to score. Waller kept it at 2 in the first half - man of match for me. Hendo sub was a positive one - he had impact from 46 minute and we created 2 early chances from him Kingdon on made us more fluid. Mitchell on made us more dangerous. The EELs/Hogan thing needs sorting either way, only one spot. Gordon when fit, Kingdon while not. Mitchell/Bird together seems like a bright idea. 2 attackers. Imaginative. Shame it took 0-3 and 75 minutes
