I've been told that his chances of playing at a decent standard again are 1% He's very, very lucky they didn't amputate (apparently)
Also heard the spot he crashed in is notorious and that he apparently has a bit of a lead foot behind the wheel and I notice there's nothing mentioned about reckless speed in the article.
As for "humble".... mmmmmmmmmmm.... "I'd only had the Ferrari for 3 weeks and was thinking of giving it back" My days. How have footballers, even average ability ones, got to this point in our world?
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Almost certainly he was driving like an idiot in unfavourable conditions in a car he's admitted he didn't know how to drive and reality duly dealt him a harsh lesson.
It's cheaper for footballers to actually order Uber's everywhere even for long distances. They can put it as an expense on their Ltd companies, which they all have for their image rights.
Its safer, and a great excuse to the boss if it does not turn up. "Boss, Uber let me down and you don't want me driving a fast car like Antonio and you know I always share my ride tracking with you."
Driving fast cars, fast boats, drinking large, doing drugs, skiing, and doing everything rich folk do you can do after the career is over. Do it then, as you're not famous anymore, and the sexual partners you're trying to impress/keep will value it more.
But then we have to understand they are footballers because they are not the smartest people.

I had a school friend who made it as a pro. Highest he played was Championship level, and I was amazed how much his car insurance was. The logic behind it was that he might be driving players to training and crash, and that could be millions of pounds of player in the car!
Sort of makes sense, I think its more likely that statistically they are just more likely to crash, as they are all big kids with loads of money more likely to be sodding about etc..
However, the post above ^^ made me think.
What about the cabbies, and uber drivers? How would they be insured to cart around many footballers, surely the liability is the same?
*EDIT* I know he had a list of stuff he couldn't do, ski, ride motorbikes etc were all on it ;D

Whenever I see things like this, it always reminds me of Patrick Agyemang with his Bentley.
Amazes me what bang average football players earn
I hate the term 'earn' (that's not aimed at you BTW!). They don't 'earn' it, they get 'paid' it. I don't give a schit about it being 'related to what money comes into the game', they are bleeding it dry. We have insane ticket prices, insane merchandise prices, insane catering prices (as well as it being awful), stadiums that can't be renovated or rebuilt, regular employees being laid off and so on. There is so much money in the game all of that could be so good and the players could still get 'paid' a decent wedge if they accepted that a 'mere' £30,000 a week (and I'm talking PL level here) is OK to live off. One 3 year contract is £4.6m. Even after tax that's still a lot. I'd like that. Plus, I don't subscribe to this "it's a short career", "could get injured" malarky. Sorry, you chose your career path, you have to take this risks that go with it too. Every job carries risks, I don't have the security of a 3 year, £30k a week contract in my back pocket should something go pear shaped.
ooooh, I could crush a grape!!...... ;)
