| đź”´ Matos Latest on 16:04 - Nov 20 by Landore_Jack | It maybe a blessing if this falls through. It's a huge gamble by the club to appoint someone with very little managerial experience. |
It looks like a huge gamble to appoint him. Hopefully he will do very well. But it could go the other way.

Agree and really hope it does, but if it doesn't it won't only be the manager/coach going.

We should make the right appointment more often than not, clearly we haven't in recent times. The continual compensation, sack, pay off routine has to stop.

Agree 100%. That’s why I can’t understand this appointment Thought they would look for a bit more management experience Than a few months

Would 4 times what he's on only take him up to what Sheehan was getting. Obviously he wants more than the ÂŁ4K a week O'Dea is on.

That’s a cracker mate, discussions ongoing this morning. 4 x his salary in Portugal is still less than Sheehan.

I’ve just had a lightbulb moment to solve our new manager problem 💡 Tiki taka football has had its day. Even Liverpool are playing the occasional “long” ball from the keeper, that ball that is hit low, with pace, to runners out wide that catch opposition defenders by surprise. To add to that, the long throw is the new genius idea by most premiership teams. So there you have it, the new manager we need is (I think) currently unemployed, so NO compo to pay ! and would probably come cheap. I give you sir, Mr TONY PULIS ! …..I’ll get my coat.

Isn’t it a little bit sad that Alan Sheehan has all of a sudden just been, in the new parlay “cancelled” from everyone’s thoughts. He seemed such a nice guy, and seemed to have an affinity for our club, spoke well never slagging anyone off. Plus turned things around after Luke Williams lost the plot. It was Sheehan in addition with the new owners backing the manager for a change, (by spending a few Bob on players) that made me buy a season ticket again. Such a same it all went t*ts up. But as far as I’m concerned he carried the flag well for Swansea City, albeit for not very long. Thanks Alan you were a gentleman, and would love to know what your thoughts were on you short tenure, when it’s time for your biography. Once a Jack, and all that.

He'll go on to have a very good career, no doubt about that. Look at how Williams is doing now after a period of learning and reflection. Sheehan had far more about him than LW so I can see him coming back much stronger

On a human level, yes absolutely. On a football level, no. With hindsight it was a mistake, but no one could blame the club for appointing him when we did. Great guy absolutely, but I don’t think you’ve had much more value from that season ticket than you would have under Williams or Duff.

In my career in business I did lot of projects. Going into companies and getting things implemented. A thing that I learned the hard way is that it is always obvious who makes the decisions, but it's very hard to know who decides what that decision will be. It may be, often is, the guy in charge, but often it's someone else - the woman in the office who quietly advances good ideas/people and nixes the bad ones, two guys in purchasing who really understand how the company works and have the best feel for what will fly and what won't, and so on. I very much supported Sheehan's appointment but I was well aware that his successful spells as caretaker might in fact have been due to someone else's influence given the "we're all in this together" ambience at the time. Who? Allen and Naughton spring to mind or someone on the management team now gone. I don't know. I suggest this because of the sharp difference in style, the quality of substitutions that was good and then suddenly wasn't, the lack of adventure in setting the team up. But it's only an idea. That always looked to me like the Chairman of Maritimo fancied some expensive free lunches. When they think a club has money to spend the agents gather like vultures, and can be milked.

I would imagine he will be announced soonish. Terms already agreed with the Swans.

Announced officially tomorrow, stays to manage his club Sunday, arrives Swansea Monday, introduced to the crowd on Tuesday and in the Directors box first half, goes into the changing room halftime and spends the second half on the bench. Possibly.
