Reading v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 2022/23 UPDATED on 18:35 - Dec 27 by Catullus | Well if they are not doing what he tells them why does he keep pickng the same team, more or less. Why keep picking players out of position and dropping any who disagree with him? AGAIN, he picks the team, he dictates the tactics....he tells them to play a certain way...YES and if they don't obey he drops them. You'll be telling me next that the players should ignore team selection and formation and pick those by themselves. |
So you genuinely believe if a new manager came in he could pretty much turn around the dross on the pitch with tactics and formation changes? Football isn’t chess is it, the players should be able, themselves, to play well enough in the moment to create genuine chances, I can’t imagine they have a voice in the back of their minds telling them not to!

Reading v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 2022/23 UPDATED on 18:30 - Dec 27 by Boundy | Yes , that’s how he wants us to play and god help anyone who contradicts him |
People who contradict him often get smeared in the press (and via leaks it would seem) and frozen out of the side. The lucky ones just get frozen out of the side.

Haven’t got any bias for Martin whatsoever, I’m just as unhappy as anyone else right now - I’m just not as confident as others it seems as to how a new manager can turn this team from a turd into a diamond

It’s not a window he needs but the door , opened for him if needs be

So you think the players can go out on the pitch and ignore the manager? yes I very much do believe a different manager could get performances out of this squad. Football is like chess, it's tactics and execution, thinking ahead. If a player ignores the managers instructins he can and will be subbed then ignored until he does as he's told. Martin has thrown several players under the proverbial bus this season. Edited to ask, if a manager cannot change a clubs fortunes then why do so many sack managers and appoint new ones? If a new manager cannot turn dross around how did Steve Cooper take Forest up? [Post edited 27 Dec 2022 18:50]
