The snake going to sunderland on 21:20 - Dec 18 by stainrods_elbow
It's not just football - it's life. It rewards corruption and/or mediocrity (and if you're a corrupt mediocrity, you're destined to hit gold).
In the first category, in recent times, I give you as grimly venal exhibits: Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Tony B. Liar, Silvio Berlusconi, and Jimmy Savile.
In the second, Noel Edmonds, Terry Wogan, Cilla Black, and Ireland's crown prince of offensive inoffensiveness, Marty Whelan.
Fellow posters can add their own names, according to taste.
At the same time, football is something insanely else. it doesn't matter how good/bad you are as a manager - or even whether you've been bombed out of/resigned from the same club in the past as they'll often take you back regardless (Wilder at Sheff U, Critchley at Blackpool, Ollie and us). It's just the same old musical chairs, without the music.
I hope he shits on them like he shat on us, their board end up having to resign en bloc through sheer embarrassment, and Boil goes to ground as a cab driver in a scuzzy bit of Luton (and can't get any fares). Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke - sorry, c*nt.
Lots of sense in there… but Wogan? One of the best broadcasters that ever lived! He may not have been to your taste, but he was a fantastic, warm, witty, broadcaster loved by millions. Mediocrity?! I can’t stand Edmonds but he was, through gritted teeth, very good at what he did. Cilla the same. Strange choices! Equally there are hundreds of coaches and managers out of work. Other than steve bruce, most don’t get as many chances as you suggest.
Bare bones.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

The bit that really stands out on this to me, is when Jim White let's it be know Beale would message him asking why Simon Jordan was being so horrid to him. What an absolute cnt
That a lot.
As Jordan said, Boil Face should have been concentrating on his job, not worrying about being dug out by a pundit.

It also says a lot about Beale, his insecurity and that he can't see he didn't do anything wrong leaving us the way he did.
I don't mind Sunderland, but I'll be cheering on every team they play, just so boil face is sacked..

You lost me when you said of Wogan 'loved by millions' - what's that got to do with anything? So are Heineken, the Pope, and The Sun. Personally, I found his 'warmth' fake, his patter tediously cosy-cosy, and his persona deeply suspect (see this Belfast Telegraph interview on the man behind the mask).
'He was affable and relaxed - while choosing to say as little as possible in as pleasant a manner as he could. It was an art form, and he spent a lifetime on television and radio perfecting it.'
A piss art form! Basically, think Jimmy Savile without the necrophilia (unless new evidence were to come to light).
I also always find it bizarre when people say (as you do of that confluence of blandness, banality and ambition Noel Edmonds - whose Mr Blobby bullshit showed he had neither talent nor shame, and whose 'interviews' of the likes of Abba and Blondie were somehow at once noxious, pusillanimous and painful), 'I couldn't stand what he did but he was bloody good at it'. What a weird contradiction! It's like saying 'I hate broccoli, but it's a bloody great vegetable!'
To come back to the main topic, I suppose some managers do get thrown on the footballing scrapheap, but plenty do get recycled, irrespective of their records. There's no other profession like it for rewarding failure, as a number of us have pointed out. Boil's appointment at Sunderland proves you can (i) be crap and (ii) full of shit and still get a bumper contract most of us could only dream of. Let's hope that karma is really a thing, the club tumbles, and he gets about the same amount of loyalty from them as he showed us.

Breaking News. Michael Beale leaves Sunderland to take over at Nottingham Forest
I bet his best mate is gutted at the timing of Beal's appointment at Sunderland considering he is the recently appointed DoF at Forest, having recently left his position as DoF at Glasgow Rangers! A day too late! I bet he's called Beal and asked if the ink is dry yet on the contract at Sunderland...

No, he knows exactly what he's done. Snakes always do. What snakes hate, through, is to be called out on it - that's why he was so bothered by Jordan. Jordan had his number and thar clearly freaked him out.
Today's 3-0 loss is the heaviest defeat any Sunderland manager has ever endured in their first home game. This dates back to 1889 and includes 41 managers/head coaches.

Really enjoying Wogan and Noel Edmunds beings the hills that people are dying on in here 👌🏻
Not on a hill and certainly not dying on it! But if you're enjoying this, imagine the fun when Stainrod and presumably Clive are contacted by Wogan's estate or their lawyers about Stainrod's inference that he was another Savile. I can't quite believe that's remained on the site, as I can't see how it's not dangerously libellous.
Bare bones.
