Adam Ant. 20:10 - Oct 18 with 5790 viewsDiscodroids

Adam Ant tomorrow night lads. Many of you are probably too young to remember but they were a half decent punk band before all that ‘Prince Charming’' ‘stand and deliver’ ‘goody two shoes’ carcinogenic shit.

Always thought Adam was more than just a pop act.. Jordan. 'Sniffin Glue', Mclaren, vivienne westwood 'sex'. Blitz club, Rusty Egan... a Petri dish mutation of punk and new wave..

First guitar riff i learned at 13 was ‘Dog eat dog’ on East ham Daves battered 60’s six string , Epiphone acoustic.

Not a huge fan Of Adams music after ’81. but there you go . probably be a load of old nostalgic tom tit but ’er indoors Jo deserves a night out..

Fantastical to me ,but according to wiki Adam is 69 and Marco Pirroni is 65!.. i always thought adam was in his early 60's and Marco was 80!

Who knows, probably percolate a tear or two while he knocks out 'Car Trouble' as i think of how young , beautiful , innocent and wonderfully Niave we all were back then before the weight of the world crushed our generation into molecular decimation, with its poison arrows of Mortgages, work, Kids, health, relationships, Divorce, money, Addictions and keeping your head above the plasma pool of basic need as a homo sapien in 2024 .

All that shit that is the knuckle duster of life 24/7 in the one square yard in front of your face.

Before that there was punk. And there was Adam.

Hello , my name is Glenn, I'm 56 and i'm An Adam Ant Addict.

Was a big fan of Adam and the Ants at around 12 years old.

In later life in my single days around 1997, I met an Australian girl on a night out in central London and ended up staying overnight at hers which was somewhere in Kent. Her housemate was very attractive and next morning was telling me how she was previously Adam Ant's long term girlfriend/partner.

I thought this might be BS/a wind up until she produced several photos of them together.

The support group are The Molotovs - who are as explosive onstage are their name implies. Great people too - make sure you see them.

Loving this thread Glenn. In 1978 down the Orange Tree in Richmond, the scariest person I knew was 'Greshi', a Glaswegian punk who had Whip in My Valise scrawled across the back of his leather jacket. He was so terrifying that I always associated Adam with that fear, right up until the moment he switched into the camp dandy highwayman and my girlfriend at the time appeared in the video. It was a deeply schizophrenic moment for me: do I remain an angry scowling punk, or do I leap wholeheartedly into the New Romantic? I'm not ashamed to admit, the eye liner and lipstick won*. What a time to be alive.

Enjoy the gig Disco,

I've seen Adam ATA at 12 or so festivals and gigs the last few years.

Nowadays i never know which Adam is going to turn up..... the one with energy and verve, or the out of breath mumbler who doesnt sing some of the words and looks to be going through the motions.

If its the first one your in for a treat, second? it's....... ok, i suppose.
Hope they do a good sound check as that helps.

Dressed as Adam Ant for the fancy dress competition in Ardgroom's village festival. Spent ages doing up the cape, boots, buckles. Had a flock of elderly volunteers stitching and sewing. Even got two pistols from an old Dutch neighbour.

I looked amazing. Unreal. And was a cert to win. Until I chose toothpaste to create the white stripe across my face. Burnt like fugg. Had to leave the fancy dress competition early in complete and utter agony. Before it was even judged.

The red stripe washed away to leave a red stripe that was still there when In returned to 5th class on Monday Morning.

Fuggin' hate Adam Ant. Bástard.

Wait.....your neighbour had Paul Cook and Steve Jones in his house?

Nice Disco and a welcome distraction from the football.

Early 80s was a confusing time for me musically. Started to develop my love for soul whilst at the same time enjoying the new wave/post punk era - Blondie, The Jam, The Clash as well as two tone. Hypnotised by Siouxie and the Banshees and respected Elvis Costello.

Recent playlist created includes Duchess, Hong Kong Garden, Watching the Detective and Picture This.

Story of the Blues by the Mighty Wah also features.

Hi Disco, I know you and me have some history but honestly mate my views here are heartfelt and genuine, Adam Ant's music is,was and always be absolute pony. Unlistenable drivel of highest order. Still, good luck if you like it, that's up to you mate. As you know, the only things us two like are QPR, The Cure and Middlesex CCC maybe we will find out more in the future! Cheers!

Ole Stuart was a huge hero of mine back in the early eighties. I was known to get my sister to give me the full Prince Charming look as an impressionable eleven year old. Much to my Mum and Dads consternation.

When I got Dirk Wears White Sox as a Christmas present, I thought it was the most bonkers thing I’d heard. Day I Met God and Catholic Day are somewhat different to Ant Rap and Mowhok.

I still like him, he’s overcome some major obstacles in his life and whatever you think of his music , he has kept moving. Fair play to the geezer.

Antmusic for sexpeople etc…

Ridicule is nothing to be scared of.

The only scary thing about Richmond in the 70's were property taxes.
