I'm not far from Wrexham and this local development is a bit like putting lipstick on a pig. Even if Wrexham was capable of hosting International events, I wouldn't go. Wrexham is an awful place, unless you like bookies and charity shops.

I’m surprised they haven’t insisted on QPR paying it.

I quite enjoyed the weekend in Wrexham in September.Friendly locals and loads of bars open until late.I certainly didn’t think it was any worse than some other places I’ve been.

So in this country we have televised charity shows to help children with cancer and then we give grants to Hollywood millionaires.
What a wierd f**king world we live in !!

To play Devil's advocate, what the club and the documentary have done for Wales and the local area is probably worth more than £18 million.

"The Financial Times reported that revenues in the last year could reach £50m – including 100,000 shirt sales for a city with about 66,000 in its urban area."

Who the hell is buying these shirts?

That is a fair point, but it would still have happened without the grant.

it's Americans. i'm now more able to have a conversation with casual 'EPL' fans because i can say QPR are in the 'same division as Wrexham'.

it's honestly amazing how big the TV show is in the US, and therefore how popular the team are.

I agree. We had a similar experience. It's not Beverly Hills but there are worse places to stay.

Match day hospitality was already sold out for the Rs v Wrexham match on 24th January several weeks ago. You can be sure that will be Americans.

I haven't watched any of the other TV series on other clubs BUT I did like the Wrexham TV series. And the away day there in September was probably the best for the Rs this season.

Wrexham have canny, charasmatic owners with decent, experienced people advising them. If they are smart enough to get government money then good for them. We would be delighted if it was Rangers getting money to develop Loftus Road. And the Racecourse ground is the oldest surviving international stadium - I don't have a problem with it.

Don't you pay back grants eventually?

As a QPR fan from Sydney you probably haven't been to Wembley for a while. The stadium area is a whole new city.

No - it's pretty much a defining feature of a grant that it's not a loan.
