The reason has been explained. Matos after a discussion with him deemed it would be better he went out on loan. We have to accept his decision, we are top of the league with an excellent interchangeable midfield, if we were near the bottom I could understand questions being asked we are not.

On top of that, we don’t play with a 10. We can’t afford to with the wingers so high up, we need three central midfielders. I do think we should have a player like that on the bench to change games, but that player would need to accept he isn’t going to start many games and quite often won’t feature at all. If they’ve had that chat and Walta wants more minutes, I can totally respect it. Plenty of teams will need a player like him starting.

It's all down to LAFC and Walta now if they have an option to buy. If that agreement is in place everything is out of our hands.

I’m not too bothered, if I was that type of player, I wouldn’t want to be here either because I wouldn’t play much. Gut feeling is if he doesn’t go to LAFC, he’ll go somewhere else.

He only had half a game and scored - that free kick not enough for you Nige? I bet you loved Grimes too and he showed eff all in over 100 games !

As with Leon B he may come back when the manager changes. Matos could leave at the end of the season whether Swansea go up get to the playoffs or finish top 10. Leon returned when Sousa walked.

I think if a deal isn’t already signed and sealed, which is the info it would be a huge blunder financially to sell his contract up. He won’t be in the USA for that long before he comes back to Europe where every player wants to be.

No. | | | |

Who knows. Just frustrating we're going to be losing him for a stupidly low fee. Undoing all the hard work in unearthing him in the first place

Yeo, Opoku, Widell, Just or Eom could have opened West Ham up with the right players around them and enough time on the pitch, starting line up upset because of the rightback situation or a more defensive setup initially to keep things tight Stamenic, Franco and Fulton, then bring on more flair players on later. That deep midfield area in which Stamenic got caught on the ball has proven to be a problem area for us which yesterday we played through too many times and West Ham picked us off as we grew over confident or just didn't have the quicker ball and movement to supply options to beat the press. We got caught on the ball. We didn't take our chances as they came to us early on , our goalie kept us from a hiding and we didn't take our limited chances later on. Game was tight and could have gone either way, this time we lost I will start to worry if a trend starts to form. Walta appears to be a very good player, is he a part of the jigsaw that gives us more options it remains to be seen maybe with the test of time, at the moment he is not part of the jigsaw. We have players to open teams up don't think we picked the right ones yesterday it invited pressure onto us.

In the final game of the season that meant nothing to both teams. If he was good enough he would be in the squad.

He did have a good game besides the free kick against Charlton, but he’d had a few sub appearances before that and showed very little. Hard to judge either way when he’s new at the club from a slower paced league and hadn’t played for a while and the Charlton match was half paced with nothing on it.

Well exactly, it’s not as if we didn’t have a couple of very good chances yesterday. Put a light weight flair player in there and he may produce a bit of magic, but there’s a much higher chance of us getting overrun in midfield, I can see this topic resurfacing every time we don’t score.

Don't think it was just the free kick there was a move that resulted in a goal, it involved quite a number of quick passes on the edge of the box it end with him and he slow things right dow, it was only one touch to control the ball he stood still the defence seemed puzzled as to what he was going to do and stopped, he then injected pace into the move which led to a goal. We haven't seen enough of him to be able to see what Matos wants maybe just a little more needed experience in the team which is why Eustaquio looks to be his preferred option. I would like to see Walta back if possible . [Post edited 18 Oct 10:06]

I think Eusatquio is the preferred option because of how quickly he gets us moving from defence to attack. A back line with Welsh and Lissah with Eustaquio playing in front of them gives us options we’ve never had before. Walta, I’m not sure either way. He also had an audacious flick against Charlton, he hardly touched it, but he took two defenders out of the game. Pure quality. But he’s not physical, didn’t press much in any of his games and doesn’t do the dirty work. Luxury player. Great of you can accommodate them, I’m not sure if you can in a 433.

It has resurfaced nany times, we have also seen the three that started in the midfield when pushing higher up the pitch cause teams problems themselves and they have been rightly praised, a question of how to keep the opposition under pressure while maintaining a solid defence, which for the most part this season we have done.
| Leo Walta on 12:42 - Oct 18 with 294 views | Dr_Winston | To restrict yourself to only one particular way of playing and do your best to dispense of capable individuals who offer you something else would seem to be a foolish approach, and it's one that has cost us in at least three home games now. | |

| Leo Walta on 14:20 - Oct 18 with 233 views | KeithHaynes | I can see Eustáquio being first pick in midfield from now on if he stays fit. That leaves one spot for Fulton which albeit is ok it doesn’t get us going all the time, but he has played well. Stamenić could have done better yesterday. Then we have Franco, Just and Widell really. We haven’t seen Tom Iorpenda yet. The real issue for me is Vipotnik who isn’t putting the effort in for me, and the ever injured Stewart. A clear week to make it better. | |

Matos trys different things to try and get results, at the beginning of the second half he had Fulton dropping to the rightback position while in possession of the ball to get Ronald further up the pitch, did going down the flanks work, the answer would have been yes if chances were taken. Matos does mix things up but keeping things tight at the back is hard work against "better" teams but the answer would be, did we trust ourselves to push on to get control of the game earlier in the game?
