Well deserved victory! Sylla looked good - more mobile than Polter (obviously!) and seemed to me that Chery played a more disciplined role not wandering as much and Washington used his strength on the flank and managed to get into the area more regularly than in other recent games when he's played wide. Real stars were Smithies, who kept us in the game as he has done in last 2 outings (superb one-on-one save in second half) and Luongo whose passing is more accurate than most and made a number of good runs through midfield. And of course he supplied the cross for the goal. His runs didn't always pay immediate dividends but did maintain pressure on City midfield and defence. Still worrying how easily we could have conceded, even if doing so would have been unjust.

Walked away from the Ethiad feeling really good after a well deserved point. Good fighting performances all round and showed no fear against multi million pound team and after an exhausting week. Proud to be a saint.

sadly this is the level that we now play at As they chanted West London is ours, we have declined to a poor level Players tried but we are just not good enough Overall a good match despite the result Great voice form the R block but West London is no longer ours!

We played as if we were a lower level league 2 side

In fact this team playing as they have recently would struggle in league 2

Oh dear! Impossible to avoid the conclusion we were rubbish. Only small glimmer of hope was Wszolek who must have delivered at least half a dozen decent crosses in his short time on the pitch. Why can't Onuoha and Caulker defend like a unit????

I think we have just seen the champions...no european football, costa and Hazard up front and a seriously good defence.

Saints played well but much like the last 4 teams chelsea have played we couldn't get through, Davies was superb, Austin worked so hard and almost had his goal, but overall we came a justifiable 2nd and that wasn't helped by OR and VVD having poor games by their high standards. No fault to Forster on either goal. 1st he was braced to save and it was rifled through his legs, 2nd was unsaveable (unless your name is Heaton!)

I thought the ref was really good.

Great game against an ill disciplined Inter team and a very poor ref who was intimidated by the Italian side. A whole team performance but shout outs go to VVD, Yoshida, JWP and Young Sam McQueen in particular.

Makes up for the bad luck in Milan. Left back no longer a problem. Sam has been a revelation.
