Teams more or less cancelled each other out in the first half although we often lost/gave away the ball in dangerous positions. Anyway neither goalkeeper had to make a save although West Brom had a couple of dangerous corners which we dealt with ok.
Second half we had a good first couple of minutes but then the midfield just melted away and West Brom looked more and more dangerous.
From where I was sitting bot goals looked saveable!
To be fair Lumley did make a couple of decent saves but I thought he looked very nervy.

Totally agree with Geoff78, every point tallies with my impression of the game. Warburton reckons we showed too much respect; I felt we didn't show enough and believed the hype following our recent run of good results. Too much tippy-tappy, fancy-Dan football when we should have been grafting like Albion, who were not only skilful but played like they really wanted it.

Time to Drop Prowse. Play 4 at the back and learn to pass the ball Forward.

I find it a mystery that Valery couldn´t even get in the team, when Cedric broke down in the warm up, and that Cedric´s injury resulted in Ralph changing the system (???), using JWP as right back and big Vestergaard coming in in a back three.
Why did he not just put Valery in as substitute for Cedric and keep the planned system with 4 in the back, 3 midfielders and 3 up front (Ings, Redmond and Boufal).!

We conceded 2 goals and only managed to score 1 despite playing against 10 men - and therefore dominating - for 2 thirds of the match, when brainless Aurier got sent off in the first half for 2 yellow cards.

Yoshida didn´t put a foot wrong and was by far our man of the match. He has never been better in his career, and I expect Ralph to ackknowledge that and keep him in the side.
Bertrand didn´t look match fit.
We need injured Djenepo back in our team, and I´d like Alex McCarthy - when fit again - as our preferred keeper.

Every game we give away one or two golden gifts of a goal. Our defence unit is weak. Our upcoming opponents must know with 100% certainty that the will be able to 'score' at least one goal.

On that basis they can set up to defend against us scoring two.

I also thought that although we had 70%+ posession we gave awya the ball far too often and far too easily.

This is still a team in transition and I will still take mid table this year with a view to progressive improvement and (attacking loan players staying) pushing on with a very real promotion challenge next season

After a very early goal, we lost the plot. Once again the majority of our players were second best to a team that had not won any league game at all. On the performance of the last 2 home games, Fulton, Celina, Roberts and Grimes really need to do extra training. Celina was rubbish again, anything to do with the fact that he will be in the Kosovo team next week
and didn't want to get injured ?
The same goes for Roberts whose passing today was atrocious !
Woodman's play and distribution was very poor too.

Terrible performance. We just let Chelsea tear us apart. At least show some fight, even if we lose. Just dreadful.

Naff all improvement on last year. Same issues: calamatous defence, pedestrian midfield, toothless attack, and now Ralph looks broken. The most disappointing thing is that I actually had some hopes for this season. Oh hum

Abysmal performance from Saints, no passion, no fight, total let down of the Fans.
