BirminghamR added 16:08 - Oct 7 Regular reader of fantastic Clive reports - very rare poster. Considerations from y'day and Play 4-5-1 Mbia into centre back hole (alongside Nelson) Diakite def mid behind Granero and Faulin Tarrabt wide left Mackie/Park/Hoilett wide right Cisse centre forward. Frustration rising about Hughes persistence with SWP. Bit like his insistence on Barton pre Liverpool last season. Faith in Hughes to get it right - but why do they have to learn lessons all over again. francisbowles added 17:45 - Oct 7 Big mistake by Ferdinand. Shame, because he was playing well before his injury. Bit early to be calling for him to be dropped though! Left back is a real concern, Clint now a CB and glad Traore back but he is very inconsistent and I believe he is better as a wide midfielder. Fabio, when fit? He is better going forward as well. Think it's a position to look at in January as well as an alternative target man to Zamora. Although, we played well 2nd half, we kept playing to the WBA tall defenders strengths. I know Cisse hasn't been great as a lone striker but, with Tarabt, Granero and Hoilett to feed him quality balls and get beyond him, instead of the odd wayward cross or ball played up to him with his back to goal, he might look better! Stating the obvious but next game is going to be very difficult as well. Hopefully, with a two week break, we will have better news on the injury front and no nasty surprises from the Internationals. Tarabt on top of his game at present, is he in Morocco team? silverbackuk added 20:10 - Oct 7 First game I've managed to get to. IMO until we sort out the defense we will struggle to win a game. Ferdinand was terrible. Ryan did well but one man & a goalie do not make a defense. We need to play full backs at full back (even if it's one of the youngsters) & not centre backs. It does not work, especially in the EPL. We also need another CB alongside our 'back-up' (yeah right) CB Mr Nelson. At least we didn't play 4-4-2 which is an outdated formation in the modern game at this level.... Yorkshire_Dale added 00:11 - Oct 14 geraldo added 12:25 - Oct 14 How can Coleman think that Cavanagh is worth a place in the side - we only started going forward when JK came on. Donnelly does a lot of running but will never score enough goals and gives the ball away too often. Worse than the Burton performance which I thought was the pits...... geraldo added 17:38 - Oct 20 Another defeat with Cavanagh in the team - he has not played in any of our wins but all of our defeats.Perhaps Coleman might get the message?? LostBoys added 10:04 - Oct 21 On top first half but missed opportunities and poor decision making led to no goals. Second half defending amaterish and shipped 4 goals. Dreadful newgolddream added 19:24 - Oct 21 Hard to settle for a point after leading and then playing with an extra man. A huge improvement on our last showing in W12 and will have to win our next two home games. Listened to Davie Moyes' post match interview and what a miserable sod. Reminds me soo much of Alex Ferguson who however has won a trophy or two, something Moyes has failed to do in his time at Everton. Couldn't believe he didn't replace Pienaar when the South African received a final warning from the referee. Just our luck we couldn't take advantage. QPRNZ added 21:04 - Oct 21 Much happier with the set up of the team . I thought we played well and did enough to warrant 3 points except for dreadful set piece defending…. again. Diakite was my man of the match and Hoilett excellent too. Blatantly clear penalty for foul on Hoilett too. Park and Bosingwa quite poor, though I am prepared to forgice them as they will come good. Has to be viewed as a step in the right direction. Kaos_Agent added 23:12 - Oct 21 A draw against a good team and yet it feels like a loss. Lots to like about the performance and yet so many opportunities missed (or taken away, re the penalty no-call). Poor set piece play will be our downfall if not addressed. And surely MH must see now that Hoilett has to start if we are to develop any credible offense.
