I’m scared.

That strange feeling is excited anticipation, Clive, not fear. You've not had that feeling about QPR for years.

I believe it involves use of Mark Warburton's swivel chair at weekends and his wife's recipe for lemon meringue.

(you have to be a certain age to get this) :)

Charlie : Fine, I will arrange an introduction to my sweater weaver.

Warbs : Good, thank you.

Charlie : But, then I must insist on the formula for your bath blend.

Warbs : I think we were closer on an earlier draft.

Suffering since 1978.

Wasn’t remotely expecting this, and thrilled at the idea that we might be able to make it happen. Got to trust that, Les, Lee Hoos and MW are too canny to throw away all the hard financial work we’ve done over the last few years - if we can get this agreed without undermining our pay structure and financial sustainability, what a coup it would be.

I've been thinking that for a while as being the hook to keep him and on vaguely sensible wages

An experienced deep-lying centre mid, who has a few seasons under his belt in a leading European team, few goals in him, who might be interested in coming to QPR you say?

Could you even begin to imagine

(I know he's on £50k at Benfica and just signed a new deal... but who cares!!)

If we sign Austin on my birthday (today)

A lot will depend on how much we were paying to loan these players relative to how much we would pay them to sign.

The BBC yesterday reported that Jordi De Wijs signed on a Three and a half year contract.
If that could be taken as accurate reporting would the extra half year relate to a loan fee or wages covering his stay this season ?

His contract is his and nothing to do with West Brom so wouldn't include loan fee. Might have taken lower wage with promise of future contract.

I'm perhaps just very naive and obviously have no clue about the conversations going on with Hoos, Ferdinand re wages etc. But I genuinely believe we won't have had to stretch ourselves or break our self-set barrier wages wise.

I think CA has already made his money in football. Yes I'm sure he could sign for a Nottm Forest type for an extra £8-10k/week (not to be sniffed at!) but I think he has other interests: his horses, talksport show etc - could he miss days training at Nottm Forest to go and see his horses or be on radio? Probably not. His family are settled, his kids are at school, his missus has enrolled at West London uni. He's happy at QPR, I think he relishes being the leader/senior pro, might have been offered the armband or vice captain. Elsewhere he's have to train hard, would be dropped and have people on his back if it's not going well etc. He's just had a pretty unhappy couple of years at WBA despite promotion, comes to QPR for a few months and is so much happier, treated like a king and relishing it...

Like 2013 again. All we need is Faurlin, Phillips, the Chief, and of course Zamora for the playoffs.

Should get you through the season innit.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I don't know how true it is but I was talking to a fellow R and he said that we may not sign Field.......shocked tbh.

Also said that Brentford pay big wages......shocked about that too.

Also said a few other things about the R's but nothing that shocked me!!!!

Shocking.....

Yeah but didn't we hear something similar from Bristol City's current striker last season? If someone waves a big enough contract the kids interests suddenly become less important.

The other factor in the Wells scenario, was that he had a contract with Burnley and they managed to get a sizeable transfer fee for him.

We couldn't compete with that and were right not to try, imho.
