Pets.. 22:40 - Jun 4 with 1983 views | Discodroids | Maurice went on his Logans run trip tonight. 19 years old. He was my companion every inch of those 19 years. He held on to my wedding week. Enjoy your big sleep by the light of your new sun Mo. A gentler soul never walked across the salted earth. I was wailing like some pipe smoking french hag at the 17th century guillotine when they put him to sleep in my arms. Lost pets before but this one hit me me like a roy shaw knuckle duster. When i met jo 19 years ago at 38 I was still fu cking about with wa nk drugs , wa nk people and wa nk creedo. she took a chance and We moved in together and introduced maurice . She felt i needed responsibilty .. as if that worked before... No doubt there was sawtooth waves of ups and downs but Mo grounded me, he slept with me every night even after 12 pints, a Jalfrezi and a kinder egg of sulphate up me arse hole. Mo Didnt give a flying yaks quim if i was wan king myself half to death on the sette sunday morning with a pair of jo's fishnets soaked in vinegar over me head after a heavy night. He loved me. I hope he's crossed the rainbow bridge and in his style, is shitting on gods Lupins.

It's tough, mate. I said 'never again' after my faithful hound was put down. We now have a, to be quite frank, shit of a cat who has an overwhelming advantage over me in my wife's affections, and an adoring dog with comedic burping ability

Pets.. on 23:15 - Jun 4 with 1535 views | Match82 | Sorry for your loss Disco. 19 years is a tremendous run and wouldn't have been possible if you hadnt provided the care, attention and (clearly) affection that comes through in your post.
Pets.. on 23:16 - Jun 4 with 1534 views | ted_hendrix | We lost Albert our Jack Russell years ago, I went to work one morning and got on my knees to say goodbye to him as he lay half asleep In his basket, he looked up at me with tired old eyes and I held his old head and said goodbye. When I come home that night the house felt empty and his old bed was gone and so was he. Years later we sold the house, rather than bring Alberts ashes with us me and the Missus took his ashes down to the river Lambourn In Berkshire and there was a favourite spot where Albert used to stop and drink from the river, we spread his ashes into the river. He bonded with my Missus It was fantastic to see, all these years later and we still mention him, we can't replace him It'll be impossible. Crippled Inside when he left us. My utmost sympathy to you Disco.

Pets.. on 08:35 - Jun 5 with 1183 views | PlanetHonneywood | Bloke hug fella. I was two when the surgeon said to, Ma and Pa Planet, "Master Planet needs a bit of his leg amputated...get a cat to keep him company". For the next nine years, we were inseparable. I appreciated what Danny the cat did for me. Its why I've always taken one in. The current larakin, Kipling, rescued in the backstreets of Yangon. As Brian said, they are a gift. I still look at pics of the cats I've had and say thank you. If there is a heaven and pets aren't included, then I'm off. I hope you'll enjoy many happy memories of Maurice in the years to come. Rest in paws Mo.

Pets.. on 08:47 - Jun 5 with 1166 views | thehat | It's horrible mate we become so attached to our furry friends. As you say no matter what else is going on in our lives they are always there for us pure and utter unconditional love. We have had cats and dogs and saying goodbye is the worst thing in the world. Just remember you gave them a wonderful life and created a unbreakable bond. However life goes on and maybe don't leave it to long before you get another pet. We said goodbye to our dog just before Christmas and whilst I wanted a break my wife went to the rescue and got us another dog very quickly. It certainly helped with the healing process and now I am inseparable again with my new mate.
Pets.. on 10:45 - Jun 5 with 1059 views | nick_hammersmith | We are in the first week with a new puppy. After I lost a cat I told myself I wouldn't get another pet. I've already got a new best friend. 19 years was a great innings, must be like 90 ish to a person?
Pets.. on 10:47 - Jun 5 with 1057 views | robith | Feel for you Disco. We had a little rescue cat called Margot. She was 10, and in a pretty rough state. I thought she'd last a week. We took her to the vets for the final call 2 weeks after her 20th birthday. I was heartbroken, but took solace in what a second life we'd given Granny Binbags. Took a bonded pair on about a year later; an insane tortie we named Malley and a white/tabby mix we call Pangur Ban. Sadly Malley had an underlying heart condition. One day the neighbours dog had her pinned in a corner all day. The family wouldn't answer the door to me, it barked at her for about 4 hours. That night she had a heart failure and dropped dead. She was only 5. I was devastated, robbed of all the adventures she never had. I never spoke to that family again. Actually took great pleasure in signing for their packages and leaving them in the rain. Hope that dog had a miserable existence. Sadly Pang is a bit of a nervous guy (still is) so he both won't let us touch him, and kept going to the spot Malley died or waiting by the window for her to come back. So the shelter recommended a guy who might be pals with him. So now we have an insane, very long, block ginger cat called Ruairi who loves people and is slightly confused by how stupid Pang is. We recently bought our first house and I feel great knowing I can give them a lovely place to live. Ruairi loves running up and down the stairs and exploring the garden. Pang loves to sit on the spare bed in the sun, waiting for us to go to bed so he can engage in his favourite pastime, sitting on the sofa. One day they'll be gone too, and all i can hope for is when I pet them as they drift off I can say I gave them the best time I could. You'll take solace in that too in time mate [Post edited 5 Jun 10:47]

Pets.. on 12:40 - Jun 5 with 953 views | Lblock | Utmost sympathy to you DD Our cat was cruelly taken from us a few years back. We inherited him when he was a kitten and some Portuguese scummers left him when they moved away from their flat when we were in Neasden. We moved back to Ealing and for 22 years he was King of Block round our way. He was struggling at the end with the common renal failure, bit mad, quite deaf but still enjoying life. Then one day the family of, shall we say not so nice or law abiding "people", a few doors down allowed their Pit Bull and Chow dogs to rip the lad to pieces. I won't dwell on what I did after. Still miss the little bugger on a regular basis. He was called Willo after Clive Wilson -- could never decide which one of the twinkletoed little black fellas was the most skilful Two black labs (was three until two years ago) and I'd take their company over 99.99% of humanity any day of the week. Keep your chin up DD and have a ball on Saturday

Pets.. on 13:32 - Jun 5 with 864 views | R_from_afar | So sorry to hear that sad news, Disco π. I love cats. My family only ever had one pet, a goldfish I won at the local fete when I was about nine. I carried it home in a transparent plastic bag. My dad came down to breakfast one morning and found it on the living room carpet. He put it back in the bowl and we all breathed a sigh of relief. A short while afterwards, the goldfish did it again and this time, sadly, we were too late π. I suspect we were too lax when it came to changing the water and that we failed our little friend. RIP Plop π

Pets.. on 14:35 - Jun 5 with 759 views | HAYESBOY | So sorry for your loss. Its really tough. but know that he had a good life with you. I had two cats that were called Milly and Fatboy. When I moved in with an ex in 91, the following year her friend found a cat on Putney common near where she lived. My ex asked if we could take the cat and I was not keen. I finally said ok. That was Milly. A couple of years later there was a cat that was roaming around the Court where we lived. Massive black and white cat. We used to feed it and so did some of the neighbours. One Xmas it was snowing pretty heavy and he was on our doorstep looking cold so we let him in and he never left. He weighed 9kg so we named him Fatboy. When we broke up I bought my ex out of the flat and also kept the cats and they had become mine really. In 2007 Milly passed after an operation to remove a growth on her kidney. I wasn't there when she passed and it still hurts today that I wasn't there. 2 years later Fatboy was diagnosed with cancer growth in his jaw. The vet said they could remove his lower jaw but at 15 years old it wouldn't be kind to put him through that. I asked the vet how long he had left and they gave me approx 1 to 3 months. I also asked how will I know when its time to say goodbye. That just said, 'you'll know'. I wasn't sure but 2 months later he came in from outside and just didn't move for the rest of the day and that's when I knew. The funny thing with when ever I took him to the vets was that when the vet was ready they would call the name of the pet. It always got a laugh when the receptionist called out 'FATBOY'. I have thought about adopting cats since but I find it hard as Milly and Fatboy were family. Its still a couple of the hardest things I have had to do is say goodbye to my cats. Again, so sorry for your loss.
