Personally, TV, and I think you're right that it looks different. I'm not sure I saw varane once the entire first half but TV does tend to undersell the role of the defensive player always in the right position so that the opposition has to take another option.
Madsen on the other hand seemed much more involved than normal and actually seemed to be getting stuck in to a couple of meaty tackles as well as providing some options for people when they got into a tight spot |  | | |

I'm on a stream, but even so I can see Madsen gliding around and being effective. Filled in behind smyth when he pushed forward won headers and tackles nothing ground breaking but he looks like he at least understands his mission today.
He did fade a bit in the last 15 but as I'm one of his biggest critics I feel honour bound to call out the good along with the bad.
What I couldn't see was much of Varance off the ball, how has he done?
Edit: the decent cameras were on his side of the pitch, as we only have the one gantry. [Post edited 30 Aug 2025 13:41]
