As always, apologies to Harry Morant for bastardizing his poem title.

My Norwich mate predicted 3-1 to them. I duly listened and entered that score in the prediction league. Done f all with my predictions since opening week.

A win at last

I went 3-1 to us, my second consecutive ‘mirror image’ prediction after opting for a 1-0 home win at Blackburn on Wednesday.

I saw a huge ammount wrong with that from the starting line up to the bench to subs made.

Could not have got it more wrong if he tried.

Mindlessly stupid to not rotate several players out, Why fill the bench with players you cannot reply on?

The manager has been a very naughty boy there.

Just 1 wish for christmas. Steve Cook and Jimmy Dunne please please please stop pairing them at CB. how many managers have had to work this out? Would it be quicker if Steve and Jim had one of those 'lets get real' chats with each of the new managers? It would save time.

All the while they tell us JCS is back while actual prospect Liam Morrision shrinks into the background

But he also gets pelters when he changes a winning line up.

And was it any better in the second half with the changes? Nope.

Sluggish, slovenly and sloppy all round. Feel free to add your own pejoratives beginning with sl.

Always hated the Budgies and hate them a bit more now. But, I think today clarified a few things.

Mbengue is not the answer to the RB question. He simply does not have the requisite ball control.

Varane is not improving as we hoped he would. He remains clumsy and often just a bit thick when in possession.

Madsen is shrinking back into his shell. He's not affecting the game as he must do being the deep lying playmaker.

Frey has become an old nag without a horn. He should never be subbed on the pitch again.

GK, RB and CM are problem areas for this team.

Given our hugely expensive technical methodologists and key performance strategists, surely they could/should have identified that lot were knackered before the k.o.?

We looked slow, slothlike, and sleepy from the off.

Oxford must be better than us looking at their results this week against the Anglia sides. The Canaries and Tractor Boys made absolute fools of us in our meetings. We have a knack of looking like a league 1 side like today. As soon as we get around a play off spot we go to pieces like a fish out of water before scurrying back to 16th and calmer waters. Mental weaklings continue to sign for this club season after season.

He's played 3 games there. Maybe we give him a bit more time.

If Mbengue is the answer to any question, you're asking the wrong questions.

Varane and Madsen put the deceive into flatter to deceive.

Field is not a LB. Again.

Frey is barely a footballer.

Nardi can stop a shot, but he's a liability when it comes to crosses and kicking.

Clearly, neither our manager nor team can do two away games in three days like everyone else somehow manages to. We've seen it at Derby post-Swansea, and we've seen it today. Tonight, he's basically shrugged his shoulders, told us it's been a good week, and that we should 'accept the situation'. Which is fine if you want to be part of a club that settles for amateurishness, low standards, and 16th - i.e. by blaming the same travelling that everyone has to deal with, the budget, the ozone layer, or whatever else. Which I guess quite a lot attached to QPR just love to do.

In the words of John Sitton, the best players want to be good players all the time. Watching Varane, does anyone honestly think he falls into that category?

I rarely agree with your views - more how you express them - but I think we see today's performance in a similar light.

I honestly believe we could have grabbed the points today if Stephan and the players had been a bit more savvy. But of course hindsight is always cleverer than foresight and I don't work at the QPR coalface. They all do.

Win the next game and today will fade into the November mizzle.

That's the trouble with QPR - no foresight (but also, apparently, limited capacity to learn from mistakes)!

As for forgetting bad games, I don't, but maybe I'm cursed.

Look, I liked Kakay, never considered him a 'joke', but could see he wasn't a Championship level player.

He appeared in 9 games for Boavista and was then released on a free to Kosice, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the Slovak first division. Nothing to write home about there.

Mbengue is better than Kakay but he has a hell of a lot of work to do if he's going to secure a place in the starting 11.

I thought one of the reasons JS was appointed was he could deal with 3 games in 8 days. If his solution is to just play an unchanged team......???
Well I'll be butch'd.
I can understand if we had naff all on the bench, but we currently have first teamers who can't even get on the bench. Thats at least 9 possible viable alternatives.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

Mbengue had a bad day at the office. I Like him, absolutely no fear loads of speed and good intentions.

But unless I'm mistaken we're going to need another RB to drop him. Or Jimmy has to move back, and when looking at today I'm not against that as he can't play with cook so it's riddled with issues that back 4.

TBH if we had a slovakian asset I'd trade him for Ossy just for the cover.

Its currently a position someone has to play, as we have nobody naturally suited to it. 3 games, he's had 3 games.

The whole defense is a mess, how many different CB pairing have we had? who is first choice at LB? Which goalkeeper has Steve or Roman killed to death this week?

I think we're being a bit harsh on him.

We essentially have a 3rd choice keeper in goal now. We are playing a centre back at right back and a centre mid at left back! Dunne was moved from centre back to right back because we could never keep a clean sheet when he played there. But as he’s the captain he has to play and he’s now back at centre back! Always felt we are more solid with Morrison playing at centre mid. Strange when we have a solid left back on the bench. Defence and keeper needs big improvement next summer.

ok for me the norwich 2nd riles me, i was watching a stream and varane is pulled back and then thrown down but does not even appeal , the ref took ages to whistle, maybe expecting our appeal, nothing came, goal given. why didn't varane appeal??
then norwich excited hit us for a 3rd and game over.
must be an added choker for those who had to wait on replacement bus/coaches to here and there to get home after that.
our expected and dismal run at carrow road goes on. are we allergic to mustard??

Fundamentally, we are a bottom half team. If the Gods all align we may make the top half, but playoff contenders never.

That first half performance from us was as poor as it gets. He could have replaced any of the 5 midfielders at HT. 28% possession is all the evidence needed.
2nd half was better, although we created very little.

I struggle with this assumption.

The league is not strong. It’s not obviously better than last season.

We finished 15th last season. This season the squad is much better. I think that is broadly accepted. So surely we should be better than 15th.

So we should be a mid table side, shouldn’t we? That should be our expectation.

And, secondly, if we didn’t think we could improve on last season, why did we change Head Coaches?

And, finally, simply accepting we’re a bottom half side can become a self fulfilling prophecy. We have to raise standards, and part of that includes raising our sights.

Well the coach who left isn’t exactly pulling up any trees at Leicester, so let’s not go down that route.

The league has less very good sides but it also has less rubbish sides. So this leave a big bunch of clubs in the middle. 2 of which will go down and 2 will sneak in the playoffs. Overall I would say league is stronger because more sides in the middle level.

That all being said, Stephans decision to not rotate any of the outfield players is ridiculous, arrogant and stupid.
