| West Ham tickets on 17:59 - Dec 19 by Big_Mac | They hold 20% for general sale so they should be releasing 1800 more tickets at 7pm but almost 7000 sold already is pretty decent |
True but having been on the wrong end of that before, I wouldn't bank on it.

| West Ham tickets on 17:34 - Dec 19 by Juzzie | My understanding was that it was going be down-sized to a 25k athletics stadium (was never intended to stay at 80k) and the national team would move from Crystal Palace (16k) to there. They are now in Birmingham (18k). An utter balls-up by the Olympics legacy people and the West Ham owners utterly pulled their pants down knowing there was really no other option (Orient too small, Spurs too far/encroaching into east London territory) so they were able to get it for 2' 6" and some Werthers Originals. That doesn't make it a good football stadium though because it was designed and built to be re-purposed into a smaller athletics stadium, which never happened. [Post edited 19 Dec 17:37]

This is true. The bottom tier (25k) was constructed as a permanent massive concrete structure and the top tier (55k) as a lighter-weight temporary structure which would be removed after the Olympics. If Seb Coe had a part in that type of design I imagine it was intended to make the stadium as difficult to convert for football as they could get away with. The threat of a football takeover would have been obvious to them. Once the politicians got involved after the Olympics all they could think of avoiding being saddled with a 'White Elephant, whatever the costs and drawbacks of converting it.

Yup. When it was obviously the only thing it would ever possibly be useful for. They ended up tearing the Don Valley down in Sheffield, 20 years after they built the thing.

I had the privilege of watching a couple of games at the Don Valley. Quite the stadium and quite the area.

I suspect that gets held back and released at a later point. I can't believe we've sold it that quick. I knew we'd sell it out but 8,000 odd tickets in an afternoon?

I thought the 20% started with priority general sale at 5pm?
| West Ham tickets on 19:54 - Dec 19 with 1200 views | Paddyhoops | Astonished by that . My mate who gets our tickets had no luck . Been to five away games this season as well and was quite looking forward to it. Good luck to all travelling. | | | |

Yes but still designed for the job to last 10-20 years, whatever. :) Good for athletics. Full for the London Grand Prix 2024 and now profitable at last. Awful for football, and Spurs were lucky they didn't fight too hard for it. More trying to stop West Ham.
| West Ham tickets on 20:10 - Dec 19 with 1039 views | Paddyhoops | Hope there’s a realisation of the potential of this football club as result of the speed at which the club has sold out its 9000 allocation . Hopefully we no know that the clubs supporter base is growing and has been for a while now. Sadly I didn’t get a ticket but best of luck to everyone lucky enough to get one. | | | |

Paddy if I don't go you can have mine no problem. Strange things were happening with that system earlier anyway.

That’s very kind of you . There’s three of us who go away together and stand at home games. We’ve agreed over the years that we all go together or not at all . Once again that’s a lovely gesture.
