Frey on the move? 13:40 - Jan 2 with 4431 viewsBenny_the_Ball

Having recently signed a new contract in September, reports are now emerging linking Michael Frey with a move in the January transfer window.

If true, I can't say I'm surprised as he's looked particularly immobile this season and is behind Kone, Burrell and Kolli in the pecking order.

Nine league goals in 51 appearances. Yet some are writing Burrell and Kone off! Burrell already has the same number of goals and I'm in no doubt that Kone will match that number in significantly fewer games too.

They are both upgrades on Frey and will get better, which for me bodes well for the future.

I appreciate what Frey did for us last season but if that means more game time for Kolli, another potential talent, then it's the correct decision.

To be fair Frey always plays with his heart on his sleeve. That may be one of the reasons he's been off the pace this season and if he does stay then they should do something surgically to correct that.

Never knowingly right.

Age has caught up with him. Maybe good for him to drop down a division or two.

Weirdly he's the kind of player that a team like Luton could do with at the moment. He destroyed them last season at their place and they like him. Could be a decent move for him if he does leave.

Look at his physique, he was never built for speed. His job should be the hurly burly rough stuff, which we don't seem to do much off, that and refs blowing for a fingernail contact.

As I've pointed out, he's 31! The problem is he plays like he's 41!

Whilst I agree that Frey was never built for speed he was more agile last season, if a little injury prone. This season he appears to have lost any athleticism and looks very awkward on the pitch. The footballing equivalent of dad dancing. One thing I can't question, however, is his attitude so for his sake and ours, I hope he secures a decent permanent move in the January transfer window.

I’ll always be grateful to Frey for the part he’s played in keeping us up whilst with us — and he did contribute.
It’s a shame he couldn’t maintain a fitness level but maybe a contributory factor in that is the club as a whole and remote experts not assessing him properly from Dubai. We’ll never know.
His attitude has always been spot on and I’m sure he’d love to have put more goals on the board.

Incidentally, he’s averaged so far a goal every 5 and a bit games, Kone by contrast is a goal every 4 and a bit games.

If the Unicorn leaves us then I wish him well

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I like Frey, he did a great job for us last season. It’s quite hard to get into your stride when you’re an older player who’s built like a truck when you only feature 5 minutes here or there. He was very good at killing off the game in the home match against WBA. He has his uses.

I've still got a lot of time for Frey. However, as of this season he can barely warm up on the touchline let alone affect a game in his cameos.

I think he can also still have a career as he's only 31 but certainly not with the way we play - we need mobility up top which he lacks now more than ever sadly. He'll do well somewhere if he's used as a target man with players running off him

Shit but local

Good luck to him if we do have interest - and Dave is unlikely to have made that up. Could see him being a bit of a monster in League 1.

Official announcement on the Hallmark Greeting Cards website. Season long loan. I think he could do a decent job there.

I quite liked him in previous seasons, but even with the injuries I don't think we do. He just looked so far off the pace when he's come on. Lads v dads/ traffic cone scenario. I wish him well, but moving on wouldn't be a bad thing. Please don't play him v west ham

Frey was nothing more than a stop gap, but was better than Lyndon Dykes. Frey's issue is fitness. He couldnt do 90 minutes or rarely back to back game when he was first choice. He missed pre-season last summer and hasnt really got going from there.
