Tbf, other than his leadsership qualities, he does give the side at least a bit of a hard edge. Without him we look rather lightweight. That needs to be addressed or we will get bullied a lot this season. |

I get your point, but a couple of end of season games when the sun is shining and we are all safe is very different to having to slog it out of the course of a 38 game PL season, particularly when the rest of the squad is looking as thin as it is and maybe more exits to follow.
£10m is an acceptable price, not easy to replace though |  |

10M for a guy nearly 32 is a no brainer for a club with far little clout financially to most clubs in this league.
Its going to be a had one to take as some many respect him and see what he brings to the table for us. Our worry now if it does happen is what we get in to replace him and hope the club use the money wisely.

Over the last few seasons we have been quite lucky with injuries, having 3 central defenders going in to the new season isn't enough, we need to have 4 along with a couple of reinforcements in other areas. | | | |

I think Ash has been without doubt one of the most successful players and captains in the history of our club. But Jordi Amat played really well at the end of the season and there were plenty on here wondering if he would now replace Ash.

It's a great bit of business if the players stepping in to replace him are up to mark and deliver, if they are found wanting and come up short and we go down, then it won't be such a great bit of business.
The club philosophy has always been about finding "rough diamonds" polishing them and moving them on at a profit when it suits. At the lower levels that is easier to do as there are more players who have the ability to perform, at premier league level it is much more difficult to find those gems as less players have the ability - as is evidenced by the fact that some of our recent recruits have proved to be disappointing. I just hope that if AW is moving on, we get a decent replacement for him. It may be that this move has been on the cards for some time and the club have already earmarked his replacement, the James Chester rumours have been doing the rounds for a while! | | | |
