I don't think that's a stupid question at all mate. |
I just don't get what it is and I heard the fans forum and it all just sounded like a lot of noise
I don't want to be an old man shouting at a cloud but a lot of this stuff just seems to me doing what we did before but call it something different to make it sound new.
We have a Head of Methodology and a Director of Sporting Operations plus an Academy Director, an individual development coach and a football focussed CEO and a defensive coach who doesn't work on match days, does a championship club really need this many roles.
You have all that then a manager comes in and says I'm not picking your kids and we're playing 4-4-2 so whats the point of all the people above him.
I said it on your pod last week, we keep hearing how different everything is now but I just don't see it. For Kieran Morgan see Ryan Manning, he's even moving to full back as well, the way they both came into the side and left it again is exactly the same.
We've got a few prospects in the under 21 team now as we did a few years back but is that due to all these roles or just how football goes you get a good crop of kids then nothing for a few years.
I always think to set a culture at a football club you need people who have been at the club years and can help introduce new people to it and buy into what we want to be. The likes of Furlong and before him Steve Gallen were crucial to that and we let these people walk away at our own peril. [Post edited 25 Nov 15:49]

The club can't make an announcement about Furs leaving if it hasn't been finalised between the two parties.
It's been leaked by someone, but the article only says it's been agreed he would leave. There is lots of legal stuff to do before it can be publicly announced.

The announcement also of a ‘ head of methodology for the 17 to 21 age group’ ..whatever in f*ck that is , suggests Furlong may have been following Stéphan and pushing back on the club methodology .
No proof of that , just my own gut feeling , but if so that’s a big old worry. Suggests Stéphan isn’t too safe if we go on another bad run and if they are willing to get rid of their own bloke then not sure where it all ends. Or, as suggested , gradually getting rid of any human life Nourry B.C., be it staff, player or coach .

Heavily edited because the list is getting bigger as I remember things not because I have changed my mind on things.
No proof, fine, but luckily this is football forum not a court of law and I can rely on things like previous behavior and input from others.

Laughed like a drain when I told him of the stick I used to give him in his start at the club.
He spoke with me for a long while about how it was totally different than he expected and he had to reset his head.
Fair play and he certainly turned me around and I do think he is a true Legend for what he achieved here.

If Furs has been booted then that’s a real shame. He gets the club, has delivered results and always comes across as a really good guy. Sort of person you’d surely want around your club.
