Yeah I feel this too. I reckon he's not at his best (definitely too slow to make a pass) but the potential is there and he does a decent defensive job in midfield.

I think Varane is happy here. At least let him play here until the end of the season and then I guess it is up to him. He's had a very in and out season so far but when he is good he's very good. Why loan him out with a view to a sale, that may not come. If they are that intent on him they can come back for a chat at the end of the season. As has been said over and over again selling and reinvesting has to be the way forward not getting too attached to players. Not sure Brentford fans were always happy when Maupay, Benrama, Watkins, Toney and Mbeueno were sold and that’s just their forwards. Over £5m for a player who cost under one million and has been average at best this season is exactly the sort of deal we should be doing. | | | |
