I cannot believe anybody rates this guy.

He's a total embarrassment under crosses, he's too small and I'm not sure he can even jump.

He is CLEARLY not a viable goalkeeper.

It's a shame, as him aside, we were looking quite good. But you can't win games consistently with a bad goalkeeper - and Walsh is a bad keeper.

Sadly none of our three keepers are good enough and it should have been addressed in the window.

Ditto, no way I'm having he's 6'4"

He's s standing beside Bennie in the interview after the Hull game and looks 2-3 inches taller, no more.

Bennie is apparently 181cm, or 5ft 11.5 I think in old money.

Walsh has proven that he has the skills to make it at this level, imho.

I don't know anyone who thinks he wouldn't have been better served with a loan this season, though.

Pretty much my feelings, too. A work in progress who should've been given a chance to develop in League 1 a la Eze and Chair. To the OP, Joe may have his weaknesses but one thing he certainly doesn't lack is height.

i think walsh could be a decent keeper , but one underlying thing which could be the root to the problem is the coaching , nardi and walsh arent great at coming for crosses nardi is awful , surely our relativly new keeping coach will be working on that, cant remember the name of the guy we had for years before hand but as a huge problem they must be working on the cross and corner issues ?

There's 12 games left. Play him and see if he gets better.
Address it in the summer after moving on Nardi and Hamer. You need to sell one of Cooper or Walsh though, can't have them both as development options

Why can't Cooper and Walsh challenge for the first team job?

Arguably it would provide incentive for both, and mean an injury to one would leave us with a second keeper who is game ready.

Gavin Ward was our old goalkeeping coach. Now at Cardiff City.

Walsh is hampered by lack of playing time at this level. I’m sure development and non-league football doesn’t provide the quality of crosses you get in the Championship. Sometimes he does seem to collect high balls and crosses. But he’s very inconsistent, like a lot of our younger players. Is it down to a lack of playing time?

The gk position has been a disaster all season. A proper keeper should have been signed last summer. Walsh, Cooper, Nardi and Hamer all have to be moved on this summer. Get what you can for Walsh and Cooper. Nardi and Hamer will be out of contract. I hope Nourry, Belk and the cycling fella are on their computers as we speak playing Football Manager looking for a keeper in the 25-27 age range that is confident, agile, uses his feet well, commands his box and talks to his defenders! And please with a bit of height! Cooper is too small for this league.

The more I think about it the more I think there is a chance that Hamer plays on Saturday .

I’m sorry, I know it’s a positive day - but I cannot fathom how this guy is a professional keeper.

Worse, starting for QPR.

Take a look at Leicester’s goal today. Weak shot, miles out, obviously shaped and aimed, not in the corner.

Check out Liam Walsh. Have a look at his reaction speed, his dive, his hands. It’s sub schoolboy. It’s kinda women’s football goalkeeping actually.

You CANNOT say he’s better than Nardi.

He’s diabolical. He isn’t a good shot stopper, he can’t claim crosses, catch, command his area, he’s not good with his feet, his distribution is poor, he’s not agile, he’s not a good communicator. Oh yeah, and he’s too short,

In other news, thought Edwards was unbelievable today. And Morgan really showed his quality in his correct position.

I thought it was a good goal, used the defender to shield the ball from Walsh' line of sight. I wish some on here would stop slagging off the youngsters, we need them to succeed so we can sell them.

As for Nardi. Bloke couldn't catch a cold, and got found out big time last season.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

I think this debate is for the end of the season but FWIW IMHO Nardi is a much better modern day keeper, the type we need if we are going to be a decent footballing team.

Hopefully its academic for the moment if we get the remaining point or two that we need to guarantee survival

Let’s hope this statement displays the accuracy of your Koki Saito is the next messiah one. I jest, I am worried about the keeper too. But I do think we give him till the end of the season to fully form our views. He is very young for a keeper so making a call on his future in the summer after a full set of games, especially as no promotion or relegation, seems sensible and fair.

At the moment, come the end of the season I think this may be one we have to move on from, but I would give him the remainder of the season to see if he can change our minds.

It's increasingly difficult to believe Walsh will make it with us. He'll turn 24 in a couple of weeks, so he's not a youngster anymore, and I don't think his age can be used as an excuse for his poor performances

He's had plenty of playing time this season but so often makes serious errors as he did today when, being too far to his right, was in a bad position for Leicester to score.

I thought he could do well with us but sadly it no longer looks like it to me.

Walsh on 19:06 - Mar 14 with 1227 viewsfrancisbowles

I thought Walsh was pretty good today and the op is way over the top. It was a great strike which he had little chance of saving and where his defenders failed to close down their best player. Even if you think differently, he was fine overall today.

Walsh has had some poor games and some good games. Noury has mishandled his development and he's learning his trade in the spotlight. At this point, we need to persevere until the end of the season and reassess.

Walsh on 19:24 - Mar 14 with 1143 viewsQPROslo

Of the 3 Keepers we have I prefer Nardi. When he got back in for 2 or 3 games his work off his goal line showed improvement. Then suddenly he was out again. I'd prefer Hamer to Walsh as well. He should have saved their goal today, he was badly positioned but still should have got a hand to that.

Walsh on 19:49 - Mar 14 with 1001 viewsBazzaInTheLoft

To survive, we are going to have to play players that aren't the finished article. Walsh is in this category.

Our job:
Have patience and support them through mistakes

The club's job:
Don't shit your pants and chuck it in the bin when we get beat 7-1

The club especially, haven't lived up to their end of the deal and havn't explained the process. All the AI welcome messages have just inflated expectations.

If we get a draw at Coventry away, or a mild beating, I truly believe that Morgan and Kolli get 15-20 more appearances and the pressure on Walsh diminishes.

Today should show us that they can do it, with the caveat on inconsistency that comes with lack of experience.

Lol. Saito was the messiah. For three games.

Then he became a useless midget.

But I’ll fair point, I deserve some grief, I called Saito very wrong.

Gonna stand by Walsh (Joe not Liam soz) is total rubbish though.

That was not a good strike today. Watch the view square on with the goal. Look how late and lame his attempt to save it is.

I really do think we need to remember the human side of this. He’s a young lad developing into his profession. He’s made mistakes and he’s made some great saves.

Whenever I’ve seen him outside the ground with my daughter, he’s been one of the nicest, most friendly lads you could meet and always gives plenty of time, attention and interest in what the young autograph hunters are telling him / asking him.

The other week, he even recorded a video message for my daughter to pass on to her team mate, who plays in goal and had broken her wrist. He was really great, interested and engaged. My daughter’s goalkeeper was absolutely gobsmacked and thrilled.

Absolute gent.

I wish him all the best and will continue to support him come what may.

I’m sorry, I’m not here to dig him out on a personal level - and it’s brilliant to hear he’s a good guy.

But he needs to be a good goalkeeper first, and a good guy second.

If he turns out to be a great keeper I’ll be amazed but I’ll eat my words and own my mistake.

Is there room for improvement - yes

Is he as bad as the criticism he gets - no

He is a relatively inexperienced keeper at this level. Walsh has made some good saves and has conceded some poor goals, with the amount of space opposition players get against us I’m not surprised how many goals have been conceded.

My personal opinion on today’s goal was when James shot, Walsh’s line of sight was blocked by Edwards (I think) hence the slightly delayed attempt to keep it out. Walsh could possthave done better but by no means was it all down to him.

Hell froze over when I saw him catch a cross.

The away was stunned.

Kicked away well today.

Cracking save.
