On the plus side, he'll be at peak fitness in time for the Tour de France.

Apparently, though being reassessed on FRIDAY.

Call me an old cynic, but i think this statement fed to WLS from the club has potentially not an ounce of credibility.

Think its been said for either reasons such as ;

1. He is not considered match ready, as yet.
2. He is only good enough currently for the development squad.
3. There are better options for the bench.
4. We want to keep Coventry guessing - otherwise they may focus more or less on their defence facing Obikwu and his known skills to them.
5. We have seen multiple times, untruths being put out by the club, ie Chair back in December, the many muscle strains of Taylor Richards... etc.

Its the part of Mr Nourrys reign that i and most others are most critical - cant see any real reasons to keep real information in house ie what given advantages would this achieve anyhow.

If its true and another muscle injury and attained during training sessions would greatly question the sports performance and data team need to re evaluate how they do things - as its currently extremely poor.....

But ok will throw off the old cynic mask and say "Thats a shame !!!!!"

Or part of the deal he cannot play against them this Saturday?

I'll say it again....... there cannot be many small'ish mid table Championship clubs that would pay out £4.5mill on players and three games later neither have played a minute.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

How could you explain that WLS posted just yesterday that Obikwu was in line to make his debut on Saturday? I'm sorry I just feel like a lot of this is a massive stretch and overread

Well now they are saying he has picked up a knock.

The comms team have done this many many times with players over the last couple of seasons.

i dont trust the timelines they give for injuries ie quite often its a smokescreen and not the total truth.

i dont trust the club on these messages - they quite often treat the fans like fools over all this - so far.

If you want to believe everything the club put out as fact, thats absolutely your choice - i unfortunately am sceptical due to past untruths
When most of their outputs turn out to be one hundred percent correct, i am afraid, i will treat such press releases with a large dose of salt...

I wasn't too fussed about Ronny not playing in the last few games, as recently that defensive pairing looked pretty good.

I think with M'Bengue suspended we will see Edwards play, either as RB, or with Dunne switching to RB.

Not sure about the new guy, maybe its mind games, or Stephan wants to see more before he plays and this is a story to temper expectations?

I can't imagine Saito will start the game either, even though he's being teased today as back on the grass.

Was it Cov before when we changed the team a lot and got mutilated?

Well I'll put my hands up as I've criticised WLS in the recent past however when it comes to updates such as transfers or injuries I'm fairly certain they complete their due diligence and are 100% trustworthy when it comes to this. I don't think they'll be played around switching from he's available, to potentially not available in 24 hours as some sort of master ploy, I'm sure he has had a knock in that time (not that unbelievable) and we'll see on Friday

I know you've mentioned the Chair injuries and that timeline, however I'm sure he was in a bunch of training videos and content around that time of the original return date, I think he's just redone or suffered a new injury after that. Rotten rotten luck as we've needed him and his creativity in recent weeks

It is typical that we sell one striker for another, only to find the new one is broken as well. I can only assume he bashed his knee standing up from the contract signing on ceremony?

Never knowingly right.

You are very trusting Sam.

To be fair also, the amount of players that are picking up injury setbacks in training to me is very poor. Is that normal ? I think that is poor.

Normally I am trusting but if people have been consistently guarded in announcements previously and been economical with the truth I look at certain statements with a pinch of salt.

Love to be one hundred percent about this.

WLS are just reporting what the club has said. They seem to be in the know about signings but injuries they can only report what is known to them by way of the club informing them.

Let's see....

Perhaps it is trusting. I didnt see the positives in not disclosing injury information like before and I'm just glad that the club has addressed this by becoming a lot more transparent. I dont think they're lying if they give an initial predicted return date, but due to set backs / delays the date changes. Injuries are dynamic and not the same for everyone, it can't be easy to predict exactly

The injury situation is poor I agree, not least for our position in the league but also for the club's MO, the players wont develop and increase in value by being sat on the medical table. Whether its normal, I've counted 6/7 other Championship clubs with the same amount or more injuries. So definitely below average but still other clubs are being struck with the same endemic

The one that really baffles me this season is Pokku, all the fanfare over his signing and spent all of the season so far on the treatment table. He can't manage even 20 mins of a game without getting a non contact injury, something seems very off to me.

Great hope for the future with Poku though - even Willock managed a brace last night. Wonder when he last scored two games in a game.

Be careful mate that's not a popular opinion on here. Allegedly cause we've won 2 out of 12 or some ridiculous figure like that we can't make any changes to the defence we're saving him for August.

We have this ability to sign crocks. Still don’t understand why last season JCS was given a new contract when he is constantly unavailable. Poku been essentially injured since first game of the season. We make a new signing. He arrives in London and now already injured. Chair injured at various points this season. The list goes on. Our gk situation changes every week. So we basically have one out and out striker for Saturday who looks incredibly unfit. Let’s hope Nourry has found a Mark Viduka or Harry Kewell in his little black book of Australian players as that seems to be where we shop now.

The best ability is availability and yet Sam Field… who has clocked up 120+ appearances in the last 3 seasons is supposedly being moved on.

"Even" Willock at his lowest ebb still managed to contribute more by way of goals and assists in his final season than £3m smiling Saito managed last season.

That's before we look at what he did in the two seasons preceding, the second being injury-hit when he still scored 6 goals in just 28 games, a number which the likes of Saito, Dembele or Poku are unlikely to replicate. As for the season 21/22, they've no chance of attaining those numbers.
