Blimey what a player he is at this level! Seems to have so much time on the ball, makes it all look effortless. Really great alongside Madsen with Edwards playing the kind of advanced Glenn Roeder sweeper role behind them.

Kamara is absolute class!

Never knowingly right.

What he also does is relieve the pressure off Madsen, which means Madsen can go forward at his own pace and dictate the game without fear.

So, these two are really controlling the middle for us, with Charles, it means we can get out of the press really well and build from there.

I was really enjoying watching Madsen’s surging runs into the opposition half during the second-half yesterday, which unfortunately came to an end when we went down to ten men.
It was an aspect of his game which he has never really revealed before and I guess having the solidity of Kamara alongside and behind him enables him to play with more freedom. Having him carrying the ball forward into dangerous areas like this would be a real plus for us if he can keep doing it.

Previous seasons I’d describe us trying to keep possession like a game of pinball, frenetic.

This fella has changed all that.

A very good addition to the team/squad.......thinks a lot about the match, watch him looking around to see where we are vulnerable to attack. Intelligent player indeed.

I was a bit sceptical when we signed him... An older player, with a middling record at this level whose been frozen out at Rennes? It seemed a bit desperate. However, he's been absolutely brilliant, and basically what we were begging for last season - an 8 who can progress the ball, tackle and make space for teammates.

If he keeps his fitness, continues to play as he has in the games he has played......then, he should be a priority signing if he isn't already a QPR player.

Literally every time the ball goes to Kamara I sigh and relax. It seems as though he never ever loses possession, it's like he's operating on a different level.

Yes, as per the great new signing piece on this site, he doesn't have many goals or assists to his game, but my God the difference he makes to the whole team cannot be measured - both with and without the ball

Shit but local

He's not perfect with the ball, but very much good enough for us. But what really gets me is his movement, he always knows where the space is to receive the ball. He gets around and knits the play together really well. It's top level movement and it makes such a difference, takes a lot of heat off the other midfielders and the full backs too. Allows them to make the forward movements.

The spine of Charles, Dunne, Edwards, Kamara, Madsen is very very strong. Either of the main strikers starts firing and Chair gets fit and at the level we know he can be then it's a very strong team.
Only Kamara downside is he will cost money at the end of the season and if we do buy him it's dead money

I would say that he is pretty 'tidy' with the ball....one of his assets.

I believe - someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this - that he's out of contract at Rennes at the end of this season, which would mean he'd be available on a free / able to sign a pre-contract agreement with us in January.

No, he's not; he has another year left.

However, I think he's on silly money at Rennes (which is why they wanted him out), and we are paying a percentage of that.

Estimates (as we don't really know) are at £60K per week, so I assume we're paying half that.
There is no way we shall sign him on even half that, and he, of course, wants the full £60K

So, I suspect either Renne pays him off at £30K per week for that final year, and we then pay him £20K per week for a 3-year contract. Otherwise, why would he sign?

This deal could be like Charles, a one-season wonder.
So, enjoy him while hes here.

I think he was a loan with an option to buy, so doubt he's out of contract. Transfer Market has his contract ending in 2028, so the last year and cheaper.

A decision for another day, but I agree he's bloody good!

Great player for us and showing the kind of form that he showed at Leeds. Very calm on the ball, breaks up play well and can move forward with the ball, helping us forward, seems 5o cover the ground effortlessly.
Not 100% sure, but I thought it was a year loan with an option to buy?
Although clearly no resale value he’s such a calming influence on the team, it would be worthwhile, if the numbers work.

The stats don’t show us having any more possession than recent seasons, but we seem to have it higher up the pitch and using it to create more opportunities and a lot of it is down to him. I have spent most of my adult life pleading with the Rangers midfield to win more “second balls”, and suddenly we are. What a difference it makes.

I very much agree and love the way he makes space and time for himself with a little shimmy that throws his opponent. Always in space and aware of what’s around him. He’s a class act in the Championship.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Although I didn’t think he was at his best on Wednesday, I agree he has been good. Surprised he has struggled to make an impact elsewhere, do we know we have an option to buy?

I didn’t think he was at his best, either, but we know what’s there and he strolled through that Derby match. I’d like to think he was saving himself for Birmingham. 😉

So question on that then
Loan with option to buy...who's option? Ours yes, not Rennes. But what about the player? Would that mean we have agreed terms with him already if so? Or is that negotiation still to come? And how does that work if it was "obligation to buy"?
