Posted with some trepidation as I know Clive doesn’t like multis. Understandably overlooked by the national media, but it seems like the Russians are completely caving in, rope-a-doped as effectively as von Paulus in 1942. Who knows what this might lead to?

"And as I type, it is being reported that Germany has now given its permission for Leopard tanks to be sent to Ukraine - about bloody time!"

Horrendous news. Our politicians, and all those brainwashed by the media to support them, are going to get the whole world blown to bits. It's madness. Dialogue is the only solution, and that is what all politicians should be pushing for (not handing out weapons like confetti to support their arms dealer mates). Every time it looks like some kind of dialogue may break out, Boris Johnson turns up to scupper it. That says it all. Follow the money.....

So what do you reckon Putin is going to do next? Launch a "Special Military Operation" agaionst Germany?

If he can't conquer Ukraine, then he's hardly going to hit someone else, is he? I mean, he might be a complete bastard, but he's not a completely stupid one.

And in any case, if we don't make a stand over Ukraine, we'll only have do so over wherever next is on Putin's list - Baltics? Georgia? Moldova? Poland?

Which is only the lesson we had to learn with Hitler, when we ignored his remilitarisation of the Rhineland. then his Anschluss with Austria. Then his annexation of the Sudetenland and the rest of Czechoslovakia.

Before he moved into (ahem) Poland, by which stage we could no longer ignore reality and had to stop him.

Or did you not notice when 60 years later, Putin obliterated Chechnya, invaded Georgia, annexed Transdniestra and then claimed DonBas and Crimea?

Which just about sums up the general attitude to this scam.Notice how all the flags have disappeared off our screens and elsewhere.
I see Boris has spent more time jetting to Ukraine than visiting his constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip, they must be forgetting what he looks like.

Dialogue!?

The only dialogue put forward by Putin and other ideologues in Russia is the complete subjugation of Ukraine, and eradication of Ukrainian culture.

The result will be long term settlement of over 10 million of Ukrainian refugees across Europe costing even more billions to support, having a catastrophic impact on existing infrastructure and cost of living crisis across Europe and even more Russian threat on the borders of Nato countries requiring an equally heavy investment in defence as comes from supporting Ukraine as we head back into another cold war.

If you think its so wonderful to be Russian, why don't you move over there for your rude awakening.

Much you might like we don't actually live inside a bubble in this world.

Dialogue???...

Problem is Putin genuinely believes that Ukraine is part of Russia. You can ask nicely or put up a fight... it matters not, as he wants what he believes is his.
The vast, vast majority of Ukrainians want their country back... Putin wants to take control and does not care about the cost and impact this is having on just about everything.

So, how will this dialog start???

"Dialogue with Russia"?

I think you mean Appeasement, not Dialogue.

And Churchill once characterised Appeasement as "Negotiating with the Crocodile so that he eats you last"

Always follow the money.

And what? It takes money to fund wars and there is no doubting banking houses and financial institutions make money from many sides both winning and losing over the course of history, it doesn't mean they are the instigators of such conflicts.

However if you read the recent BlackRock statements where they contemplate the changing world order, higher inflation etc, they would prefer a more stable non-war scenario for long term portfolios.

Whilst it may be in most of these Financial Institutions interests that Ukraine prevails, and the status quo is restored, that does not preclude it also being in western Europe's(or in fact the world's) best interest that Ukraine prevails and the status quo is restored, unless of course you are China, Iran, or North Korea.

"Always follow the money."

What money making scheme involves having your entire production infrastructure destroyed, your energy infrastructure crippled and vast areas of your cities destroyed remotely by rocket fire first?

At what point does Ukraine, and Zelensky, actually make a profit? He's asking for tanks but he's got factories and office buildings in rubble to pay for after all this.

Saying 'always follow the money' is as meaningless as 'look it up on YouTube' and 'do your research' when really that means, is just watch some dickhead on YouTube ranting about whatever the latest conspiracy fad is.

The major hole in your argument about opening dialogue with Putin is that his own people aren’t allowed any dialogue in Russia unless they agree wholeheartedly with him. Political opponents are either poisoned with novicoc or sent to a Siberian gulag and any critics always seem to mysteriously fall out of tenth floor windows. That’s what dialogue gets you in what is the most fascist regime since the Nazis. And if you cannot see the symmetry between the two then you are blinded by pure ignorance.

Because he or she provides a level headed and insightful perspective from outside the QPR bubble. Take a look at their interesting posts on the thread about the future for our stadium.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

It’s the fact that they have to roll across Poland to get there which is possibly more alarming.
Perhaps they’ll take Warsaw on the way.

Who said anything about Ukraine making money? The West couldnt give a shite about Ukraine. If it did then it would have been pushing for peace long ago. This is all about the dollar, banks lending money to governments (and making $billions on interest in return) to spend on weapons, and weapons manufacturers making $billions on weapons contracts and sales. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ever wonder why is there ALWAYS $billions available for weapons, when there's no money available for anything else?? People dying of heart attacks cos they cant get an ambulance, but that's alright because we're sending tanks to Ukraine. It's an absolute disgrace.

I see Sky News is doing an excellent job of shaking the hornets nest even further in an interview with that plank Zelensky this morning. Now he's saying no peace talks at all until Russia retreats AND Putin is gone. So basically no chance of peace at all then, which only means escalation until all countries involved are firing nukes at one another. Absolutely triffic.

Wonder if everyone will feel the same when there's a nuke heading to London? 🤦‍♂️ Hopefully that won't happen and the lies will finally come to everyone's attention, just like Afghanistan and Iraq, and the public can force our governments to withdraw before that happens.

Have you considered that there’s a simple way to end this war without any further escalation- Russia could withdraw their troops from the sovereign nation they’re trying to invade and destroy.

That’s the easiest way to resolve this conflict but you seem to be suggesting that the world should turn a blind eye and let Putin attack Ukraine without any repercussions.

Genuine question, what do you think would happen next if Russia is allowed to succeed in Ukraine? Putin will stop in his tracks and not invade any other countries? Or is it not more likely that he’ll be emboldened to choose a new target?

Fortunately most of us seem to have learnt from WW2 that appeasement does not work.
