Posted with some trepidation as I know Clive doesn’t like multis. Understandably overlooked by the national media, but it seems like the Russians are completely caving in, rope-a-doped as effectively as von Paulus in 1942. Who knows what this might lead to?

Well you’re parroting the same talking points that Putin used in his speech earlier today re western colonialism.

Sorry if my response caused offence but it was uncanny that you adopted the same rationale as Putin.

I’ll leave it here as I sense we’re not going to agree on much and not looking to p1ss anyone off.

I’m not pissed off, nor offended.

Before you go you should know I haven’t seen anything Putin has said since before the start of the war, both as a deliberate choice, and because Russian media is embargoed.

Anti colonialism / anti imperialism is a well established ideology held by 80% of the planet. That Putin would use it as a weapon makes it no less valid.

The President of Ireland also made a similar statement last week. I hope he is not accused of parrotting Putin too.

Putin's fingerprints are all over the gas pipeline sabotage. It really couldn't be more obvious. His regime has plenty of previous for false flag operations and has already made it abundantly clear that it is weaponising energy supply.

Lets not lose sight of the fact that since WW2 the good old USA has been the most militarily
aggressive nation in the world by a long, long way.I see their hand in this pipeline explosion. The CIA is more of a threat to the world than Mr Putin in fact they have caused this War and are trying to escalate it every chance they get.

A lot of Anti American feelings on here, I don't think that should be blinkering people's views.

That's because the US is the largest rogue/terrorist state in the world and is the root cause of many of the world's conflicts. The Americans are wholly untrustworthy and very dangerous indeed. They should be the world's pariahs (and they would be if the MSM didn't keep pumping out untruths about them being the 'good guys').

Amended but the point is still the same.

Absolutely coming at this in good faith. I just resent the presentation of the West as the good guys here, as if there isn’t centuries of filthy behaviour all over the planet. There are no good guys here, even ours.

Agreed with Baz, although I would go so far as to say that the US (and it's warmongering 'leader' Biden, who is totally out of control (albeit just doing what he is told to do)) is actually the root cause of the whole sorry situation

Apologies for bringing this back up but the re-taking of Kherson is a huge step in the right direction.

Also, (copied & pasted from BBC News)

- Vladimir Putin's spokesman denies the retreat is humiliating for the president as Russian officials describe the withdrawal as merely a "redeployment"

- A service has been held in the Crimean city of Simferopol for the Russian-installed deputy governor of Kherson Kirill Stremousov who reportedly died in a car crash on Tuesday

I cannot believe the two are not connected. If they are, it would suggest Putin is somewhat livid.
I'm just surprised there wasn't a hospital close enough for Stremousov to accidentally fall out of a top floor window.

And as for “redeployment”, how can they keep a straight face when coming out with stuff like this

Some saying it's Russian, some saying its Ukranian. Whatever the yanks say it is, the opposite will be true. As someone else said, follow the money.

I urge everyone to watch this documentary, then have another think about whether you should ever again believe a single word the US and UK govts and the media tell you. Lots of former main stream journos admitting they were manipulated by the govt and therefore failed to do their jobs properly

It's absolutely disgusting what the US and UK govts get up to, and how they manipulate the press to manipulate the public. This documentary shows it as being even worse than even I had imagined.

I don't agree with what Russia is doing, but the US (and its lapdog in crime, the UK) has deliberately created the current situation and we (the public) should be demanding our immediate withdrawal from any involvement at all.

"Real bad guys" - is that Vinny Jones' new Movie?

Not looking to pick an argument but genuine question. Who is 'us'?

You don't need to answer that but good luck if you do.

"... the US (and its lapdog in crime, the UK) has deliberately created the current situation"

Right. So the USA/UK have managed to fool their/our own citizens over what they've done. And they're also managing to persuade us to pony up literally billions in weapons and aid etc to Ukraine, at a time when finances are tight.

While the half of Europe, who are heavily dependent on Russian Oil and Gas have also been duped and instead been persuaded to 'bite the bullet' and pay up/impose sanctions, even though it is costing their own economies dearly.

While most of the United Nations have also been taken in, too (see all those votes and resolutions condemning Russia, not USA/UK)

So none of those people saw this coming, nor can they figure out a way of stopping it now it's started.

But even after accepting all that, there remains one thing I don't understand, namely how on earth tho devious Yanks and Brits managed to arrange all this under the noses of 43 million Ukrainians, without them spotting what they/we were up to.

And then, when Putin so stupidly took the bait, they/we persuaded the Ukrainians that they now have no other option but to o prosecute a resistance at such immense cost in blood and gold that it is literally destroying their country.

Unless, of course, all those Ukrainians are ineffably blind, ignorant and stupid.

Yeah, that must be it.

"I don't agree with what Russia is doing"

But you seem pretty keen to excuse it.
Russia invaded another country. They bomb and execute civilians. And taking the war back to 2014, let's not forget to Malaysia Airlines plane (a company with links to QPR) they shot down.
You reckon only you know the truth? A few months ago I sat in a room with Oleksandr Usyk and listened to him talk about what life was like for normal Ukrainians now. Yet some people feel free to post conspiracy theories online that belittle the suffering that normal people go through on a daily basis.
If you want to "follow the money", see how much pro-Russian propaganda and lies are pushed out online and via right-wing media companies.
The UK and US didn't invade Ukraine. Putin might have convinced himself that he was going to be welcomed with open arms for toppling some supposed illegitimate government, but he wasn't.
And for all your "the US and UK created this", Putin did the same in Georgia and even got the FSS to bomb apartment blocks in Moscow so he would have an excuse to invade Chechnya.

Chris Hedges is really good on this. For all that Victoria Nuland, Ukraine, NATO etc can be said to have acted provocatively, or however you wish to describe it, Putin pulled the trigger.
