If people could manage to be moderately civilised and not create an El Nino sized beer shower every time we score I'd be fine with it. But we all know that's a given. And as well as the ructions that would cause, there'd be loads more discriminatory abuse and general pissed up idiot behaviour.

Dreadful idea. Arrive late, go get a beer, go for a slash, leave early to beat the half-time rush, come back late…etc etc. Let people who want to watch the game watch the game and people who can’t go 45 mins without a beer stay in the pub. And I speak as someone who likes a beer.

It's alright for Burnham in his posh seats by the side, just like it would be alright in South Africa Road etc. I really don't want beer flying everywhere when we score, we go on about how VAR kills celebrations, everyone holding drinks would do the same.

I'd be very much against it for all the reasons stated, but I'm also a child of the 90s so I have no experience of anything other than drinking in sight of the pitch being an offence.

It waant a constant soaking then but neither was it in pub gardens etc. Its a relatively new phenomenen that is wholly unwelcome. Actually drinking in rhe ground was nit a majir thing in the 80s. You had a beer befire hand and after if required. I don't get this need to drink during games, No to drinking in sight of the pitch it will cause ructions. | | | |

Totally agree with this "while Rome burns" scenario.
Do we really need to change the rules. Yeah I get it in corporate boxes etc but football is in a good place I love seeing all the families attending QPR together and groups of young girls now joining our ranks.
You can drink before, at half time and after the game do we really need people drinking during the game too. I fear it will be counter productive and I love a few pints of Guinness before football. | | | |

I was pro allowing alcohol to be drunk in sight of the pitch until reading this forum. As always LFW is the voice of reason, too many knobs will be lobbing beer if their team scores which I hadn't thought about.

I'm against it for all the reasons listed even though I'd love to sit there supping on a decent pint.
I just don't want to get drenched in cheap lager and poor Guinness on the rare occasions Kone larrups one into the net.
I'm bad enough up and down to the khazi myself - nobody wants to add in people with flimsy pint glasses going backwards and forwards.
I'll have a good few before, one at HT, a good few after -- the two halves of football are a good rest break.

It is discriminatory as you can drink while watching other sports, e.g. Rugby, Cricket. However, apart from the drunkeness and associated yob behaviour, getting drenched in beer is a good enough reason to keep the status quo. |  |

While in agreement that this isn't a subject I'd want the PM to invest time in, I do think it is unjust that clubs in both tiers of the National League are included in the ban. I think it also includes all matches in the FA Cup, even in the Extra Preliminary round.

The smaller the crowds, the less likely alcohol drunk during the game is to cause problems. But never mind celebratory flying beers, think how often we see something chucked on the pitch during games all over the place. Imagine what willl happen anywhere the first time a ref gives a shocker in front of an end full of people with plastic cups full of liquid. | | | |
