We all agree he's great, talented, a right handful, fantastic attitude, lucky to have him. Also, that he won't be around for long, moving on to bigger and better things within a season or two.
Just wondering though whether his lack of pace will mean that he stays in the Championship and that if we start to do well with him, he stays with us for longer than expected.
I don't watch much Prem football, but I can't think off the top of my head any slow strikers who have thrived there? Even Kane had a bit of pace. Basically, against Championship CBs, a lack of pace in a striker isn't a chronic problem. Against Prem ones, it is. Maybe this is just wishful thinking!
(Btw, as an athletics coach, I'm constantly shocked at how many pro footballers have awful sprinting technique, when marginal gains are the thing. Baffling that no clubs are onto this. It would be easy to get another yard of pace out of Kone in half a season of drills!)

It's just nice to have to people up front who know what they're doing. What comes next I'll worry about in time. I'm going into games more relaxed and confident now because with those two strikers we'll always have an opportunity to get something out of it. |
I think they both have a fair bit of improvement in them too .Theoretically this is where JS works his magic … looking forwards to seeing how they develop over the next season or two and see what we have then. |  | | |

Who cares if he is quick or not, he's banging in goals for us. I just rewatched his Wrexham goal, what a finish.
It's just fantastic that him and Burrell are working so well together.
I was looking at some stats from last season and Chair created on average something like 2/3 chances per game, imagine what he'll do with two strikers that can actually move and finish. I bet he can't wait to get back.

I'm not sure you need to be quick to be a prem striker if your over 6 foot and really strong and powerful like he is. There's a lot of other areas he needs to develop though if he wants to get there. But he's only 22 and he's got time. Hopefully he'll be a mythical 20+ goal EFL striker for us first! I'm also hoping the Ivory Coast are stacked with strikers and that he doesn't get called up for the AFCON in Dec/Jan! | | | |

Last season Chris Woods did all right at Forest.
If you can read the game and are strong I think there is still a place. Plus the "modern" game seems to be moving back to a more direct way of playing now that might suit a more instinctive striker |  | | |

Ollie Watkins is much faster than Harry Kane.
I know which one I'd want in my side.
If Kone could do the 100metres in 9 seconds then he'd be at Real Madrid.
My own opinion on Kone is I think he's still got lots to give and is playing his way into the Championship..... that is a good thing. |

What exactly is a yard of pace? It needs to be qualified otherwise it makes as much sense as a pint of gravity. |

It's good to have strikers who can run, score and create chances. We now go to watch the games with expectation rather than hope of scoring goals.

He's a natural striker, doesn't need pace. Knows where to be and where the goal is. |
Don’t recall our Chaz being especially quick, but like Kone, was quite adept at tearing the onion bag off the frame of the goal.

The thing that's really struck me about him is while he's a goalscorer that will shoot on sight, when it's not on he'll play the nearest player in and he's always looking for the cross or one-two or through ball.

Kone's only just starting. Seems to me like he's got plenty of scope for improvement but I wouldn't be concentrating on making him 'faster'. Better touch, better spacial awareness, those are the things that will make him 'quicker'.
Harry Kane has no pace at all btw. But he's quick as lightning in his decision making etc. If Kone is a quarter as good as him, we're laughing! | | | |

I don't think he has a great all around game to be honest but he certainly knows where the goal is and that's more than enough. Reminds me a bit of Andy Thompson in that regard. Was in my younger days but I remember always being unimpressed, right up to the point where he scored. |  | | |

Austin never really worked out in the Premiership, though, did he? I mean he was wonderful for us scoring 18 goals, I think, but after we were relegated and he went to Southampton he never really scored many goals and his career sort-of fizzled. He never got close to 10 goals in a season during 3 seasons at Southampton and after that he dropped back down to the Championship.
Going to Southampton was the worst thing that ever happened to Charlie. He should have signed another contract with us. It was a travesty |  |
